Seriously, the EASIEST, CHEAPEST-ASS way to put ringtones on a verizon phone is:
1) Get a freeware MP3 trimmer. Try versiontracker.com, download.com or other like sites. A big one everyone suggests is Audacity (sp?).
2) Select a song that has a portion that you would like to use as a ringtone. Now encode the song as an MP3 in 64 kbps quality. The reason it has to be this low quality is because the phone will not accept files over a certain size.
3) Use the MP3 trimmer program to select a ~30 second portion of the song you would like to use. Be sure to name the clip something appropriate, as this is how it will be labeled on your phone.
4) Email the song clip as an attachment to
[email protected], replacing the xxxx's with your phone number, area code first.
5) You will get a text message from your email and when you open it, your "OK" button the phone will be labeled "PLAY." Hit "OK" and you will hear the song clip play and it will ask you if you want to download it. Select yes.
6) Go into your settings and when you go to the select ringtone menu, your song will not be there under the name you gave it in step 3.
The only cost to you is for the data transfer, which will be roughly 30-50 cents at most. This is how I make my ringtones and it works like a charm. Screw paying $2+ for a ringtone.
