i'm having a problem with either my video card or monitor. it starts off as just a handfull of stuck pixels, but when i scroll the webpage down they leave a trail of stuck pixels behind them. the page starts looking like this:

.

Sounds like since your card was dusty, it was overheating, but now that you've cleaned it, it's getting proper ventilation, thus the problem is gone.

This, try to keep your computer in a cool room with proper ventilation. If it's OC'd, clock it down a bit.

the problem isn't fixed. the problem similar, but worse than this i had about a month ago i fixed by blowing dust out. i've never had overheating problems before and it hasn't been that long since i blew the dust out, so i don't think that's the problem. and no, it's not OC'd.

Putting another monitor on the computer would answer your question. If that's possible. My gut says video card. Maybe go with a quick easy fix attempt like a driver update for the card.

I'd guess video card as well. If it was a monitor issue with stuck pixels, they'd be stuck in the same spot no matter what you were doing.

You may have permanently damaged the video card if it was overheating previously. Or it may still be slightly overheating. Did you let the fan spin while you blew it out? Sometimes that can damage the fan.

Some vid card drivers have temperature monitors built in. What kind of card are you running?

My last video card developed flickering pixels of a single color that would randomly appear on medium grays.

Reads like signs of the video card is on it's way out. Do you have integrated video on your motherboard? If so, try taking out/disabling the card and use the integrated video. This can help rule out the video card.

Also it doesn't hurt to check out the pins on the monitor cable. It only takes a couple of seconds. Usually cables last but it's worth the effort.
