As far back as the old days, there has been animated violence in video games. I think given the recent events over the last couple of days, it shows the rest of the world what kind of society we are. Not only that, I think the video game industry is not to blame for it either. We can blame sony and the like, but what it comes down to is the person committing the crime, they have a "motive and opportunity". Remember, the system is the inanimate object here. PS3 has become a status item of sorts and catalyst and excuse for someone to go out a commit a illegal crime. I can't blame the industry or the maker, just the "trash" that exists in our society that can't handle restraint or can't take two seconds to think of their actions.
Because of their actions, the government can very well step in and pass regulation of the industry when it didn't have to. When are people going to stop getting a "free pass" and have accountability? Thanks to a bunch of "gamers", regulation is only a few months away, IMO

To anyone who says video games were at the root of the savagery we saw during the PS3 launch, I got three words for ya:

TICKLE.

ME.

ELMO.

yeah this isn't about videogames, it's about people's insane desire to have something that they feel will sell out. Also people do get robbed for things others consider valuable.. it happens.
