Virgin Records Sweet Gamer Sale (many $9.99 and 14.99 games!)

Telemakhos

CAGiversary!
Virgin Record Store continues to have good game sales, even if they aren't well-advertised.

I went into my local VR this evening and found the clerk was dropping the prices on many new games down to $9.99 and $14.99.

Tony Hawk: Proving Ground (360) was on sale for $9.99. I picked up a copy of Hellboy: The Science of Evil (PS3) for $9.99. I also saw Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (360) and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise for $14.99.

These are good deals considering Amazon is selling...
Tony Hawk: Proving Ground for $37
Hellboy: The Science of Evit for $26 and $32
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for $30
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise for $30

There were a ton of other new $9.99 and $14.99 games for the Wii and Nintendo DS, but I don't own either system, so I didn't pay too much attention to the titles.

I know Virgin Records is typically high-priced for music and DVDs, but they're doing pretty good on gaming prices, right about now.

Just an FYI so folks will check it out. :)

Forgot to mention that the Guitar Hero: World Tour and Aerosmith guitar kits still remain $39.99.

Pinata may have been even cheaper. When I go back to Radio Shack to pick up the games I ordered, I'll see.

It was an overall price reduction. Other games were dropped to $19.99, $24.99, and $29.99. I recall seeing, for instance, SpiderMan Web of Shadows, but didn't check the price, as I just wanted to get a quick game and get home to eat.

Was out at the mall all day today. Checked out Radio Shack there, Sears, and Game Crazy. No bites at any of the places.

Game Crazy had the B2G1 free sale and the store was packed, but nothing really caught my eye.

Again, hope this helps, as there were a ton of games at Virign, despite the fact that their website doesn't even show their stores sell games.
There is one in Union Square in NYC. YMMV?
I would guess YMMV, since Virgin doesn't advertise the sales on the web or in print.

I've been to that great Virgin store on Times Square many years ago, but it was before they sold games. Also been to the other mega Virgins in San Fran and Dallas. I would imagine they have the sales there, too.

The deals I physically saw were at the Denver store.

Block at Orange Virgin was having a 50-70% everything sale (going out of Business) to my surprise yesterday visiting that area. There were not any games that I really wanted. They had Viva Pinata for 360 but I picked up some shirts instead. I wonder if the one by my house is Going out of business... are all virgins going out of business?

I hadn't heard of Virgin's going out of business.

After Tower Records went out of business a few years ago, I was a bit miffed because I thought Tower was the superior store (read: cheaper and more accessible). With Tower out of the picture, Virgin should have been stable.

From what I can tell, the store in Denver isn't going out of business. They're just having big sales on games to move 'em out.

I rarely go into Virgin, but figured I would since it's just down the block from Radio Shack, and to my surprise... good deals.

This should be changed to YMMV in the title, although it is apparently a national sale with each store individually choosing which games to discount. The location in Hollywood, California had $19.99 and $29.99 games labeled, plus a B1G1 half off sale on select PSP and DS games priced at $20 each. I saw MGSIV for $30 for PS3, Chocobo Dungeon for $20 for Wii and a number of other newer releases, but nothing in the $10-$15 range that the OP had detailed at his store.
