Virtual Memory Cards Crapping Out?

Just attempted to start a game of SC3, and it showed that there was an error reading the card. I quit out and looked at the browser, and the card read as empty with 7999kb free. There wasn't really anything of substance, but I had a file about halfway through Onimusha 1 that I'm kind of bummed about losing. Anyone else had this happen and is there a way to get it back? I made a new one and saved R&C3 and SC3 data on it, I'm hoping that doesn't disappear.

happened to me as well, i couldn't figure anything out, unless i turned off the system at a bad time. At any rate i just ended up deleting the card and making another.

What game did it happen with?

This is a disturbing development...

Maybe it means we'll need to make separate virtual memory cards for each game?

I wonder-does it write to the hard drive right as the PS2 game thinks it's writing to a memory card? Or does it just cache it in RAM, and the PS3 gets around to writing it out later?

Hmm...another consideration-what if the PS3 DOES write it out to the hard drive right away, but the hard drive just keeps it in IT'S cache, and doesn't actually write it out for a while?

Are any of you with this issue shutting off the system right after saving?

Of course the PS3 has a software based shut down mechanism, so it should send a command to the hard drive to write everything out before turning off...

Hmm...

I've been reading reports of people finding their virtual PS2 memory cards completely deleted after playing FFXII, so I'm sure this is indeed a problem Sony needs to patch up quick.
