Virtual Reality Coming To PS4?! Say Whaaaaaaat?!

I'll believe it when I see it. These types of pipedreams pop up at the start of every console launch. Peripherals almost always fail.

Occulus Rift is going to come out on the PC long before it works on PS4 and Xbox 1

Its probable that virtual reality comes to both consoles before the end of their life cycle (8~ years), but I wouldnt expect it too soon.

My best guess if you see the Rift on PC in the next 2~ years or so (you can currently buy developers kits but that doesnt count)

And then another 2-4 years after that for consoles 

Although to be fair nintendo had ""virtual reality"" like 15~ years ago

And it didnt do well...

They had some 3-D stuff out for PS3 I saw before also (glasses w/TV), so this doesn't seem far-fetched at all... but I doubt it will get widespread adoption, just like 3-D TV.

Well 3-D TV is more of a gimik

Things like the Occulus Rift could have legit potential

I mean theyve been trying crap out for years to "expand" the screen. Like that microsoft thing with the "projector" that is supposed to turn the area around the TV into screen space

I don't remember where I saw it but the maker of the oculas rift said he doubts that it will ever be compatible with consoles as they are too "restricted", and went on to say as technology grows they like to grow with it and with certain systems already having restricted firmware would negate them from doing that.
 
I would love to see virtual reality on the PS4 or any other future console for that matter. Would love to see both the PS4 and Xbox One work with the Oculus Rift.

Right now definitely, I dont think they meant long term.

Theres no doubt the rift becomes mainstreamed on PC long before consoles though. But the current state of consoles is they are practically turning into PCs

I would have lol'ed @ that person. The thing about technology is it allows people to create.
