Walking Dead: Complete First Season Blu-Ray Special Edition - DOTD - $24.99
Love the show but still think this is high for 6 episodes
That's my exact problem as well. I really liked this show, but for only six episodes, $25 is a bit high. Especially since you can buy the whole season in HD for streaming on amazon for $14.

This isn't the version with the mask is it? My best buy still has a few of those and like others said $25 for a few handful of episodes is steep (I do like the show though) especially when it is on netflix for free

can anyone vouch for the extras being worth it?

I have the standard bluray...but if these are substantial I might double dip.

this might be off, but my biggest issue with the special edition is that I don't like the cover art. I prefer the one with rick riding into atlanta on the horse...and I will prefer the second season seeing him run towards herschel's farm.

Mask version has the cover art of the hospital doors with the "DO NOT OPEN - DEAD INSIDE" warning scrawled on the wall.

Haven't seen them personally, this is just the stats

Vanilla season 1:
*30 minute making of Walking Dead featurette
*A smattering of a dozen or so other features on a variety of topics totaling 50-60 minutes (comic con panel, zombie make-up, set tours, a mini-featurette on each episode, etc.)

Season 1 SE:
*black and white version of the pilot
*7 audio commentaries (2 for pilot)
*1 hour making of season 1 featurette
*17 minutes on practical gore effects
*12 minutes on the digital effects
*12.5 mins about walking dead phenomenon
*7.5 mins about adapting TV show from the comic
*13 minute interview with frank darabont + Greg nicotero
*All special features from S1 vanilla

Damn, that masked Best Buy exclusive set is still ridiculously priced at $55. I remember getting S1 on Blu for $10 due to the Target ad misprint. Just searched Best Buy for the Walking Dead, and they have a zombie head special edition season 2, looks hilariously bad.

Ditto.. Love this show though!

Had this set in my hand today at BB and couldn't pull the trigger (with hundreds of dollars worth of giftcards in my wallet). I learned my lesson to wait for the complete series after buying all four of the Batman the Animated Series boxsets on day 1 each time. I was a little kid and didn't know any better.

I was really happy I waited when I bought the Lost complete series, Seinfeld complete series, Sex and the City complete series, and Sopranos complete series. They all came with "special" bonus discs and were a lot cheaper on sale.

I'm not buying TV boxsets one season at a time except for Community because that show is amazing and probably will get cancelled someday with no complete series boxset.
