Wall-E DVD - Wal-Mart - $5 Giftcard upon Purchase

Puffoluffagus

CAGiversary!
I searched and couldn't find this posted anywhere here (feel free to chastise me if it has :) ).

YMMV, but Wal-Mart was selling Wall-E on regular DVD for $19.95 + tax, but included a $5 giftcard that was activated during checkout. Now, while I know this is not as cheap as buying from Amazon or such, but I figured I'd post this for other reasons.

1.) I'm sure you can convince the Wal-mart employee to use the gift card upon purchase of the DVD, making Wall-E ~$15, which is competetive elsewhere, and don't have to mess with shipping/waiting if you want it before the holidays.

2.) This might be exploitable. While I'm not going to bother exploiting it, some other people might find it worth while. Since the card is activated upon purchase, what happens if you need to return the movie? Surely, you are not going to be required to return the gift card as well. So, if this is exploitable, you could buy 4 Wall-E movies, have all the the cards activated. Return those movies later for the full price, and then go purchase Wall-E with your Free Gift cards.

Like I said though, YMMV.

My Walmart had this offer on a lot of different Disney movies. Had a whole display worth so this may be easily found.

I picked one of these up for a Christmas gift....kept the gift card for myself. It'll help me out with cheap gaming later

The Skinny...

The deal is on a handful of movies: Iron Man, King Fu Panda, Wall E, and a couple others thru tomorrow.

It is prompted by the register to ring up gc at time of purchase

Walmart price matches

I just picked up Wall E using this deal last week, but was able to price match BB ad of $14.99, so essentially it was like Wall E for $10

They had these at the store I frequently, but it doesn't look like you'll get away with any funny business. The giftcards are shrinkwrapped to the DVDs themselves. Scanning the barcode on the back of the movie appears to activate the giftcard and ring up the DVD at the same time and from what I could tell it takes into account that you got the "free" giftcard much like the BestBuy promo giftcards in case of a return.

Worked out really well for me today, thanks to you and the OP. Cashier had to get some guy to ok the deal, and he initially shot it down by looking at the Christmas Eve hours (WTF?), but I argued that the prices are good through the week and won out. He most likely wanted to move the line, but whatever, I saved $15.

Not true, I picked up two copies of Wall-E without the card on front, and was still given gift cards by the cashier.

Must be a store by store basis then, because at the store I shop at all the giftcards for these are shrinkwrapped to the DVD themselves. They're not filler cards because I felt around it and it's an actual giftcard. Maybe they are doing it differently for some stores?
