Changing this to a FAQs for those that need some help getting these deals.

When I order online it shows X price for in store, but changes to Y price at checkout, what gives?
You can only do in store pickup for the clearance price if the item is available for pick up that day. If it isn't the price will be the online price instead. Sometimes the item will be shipped to that store if it is no longer at that store. It may adjust to the clearance price at pickup but it could also charge you full price for it.

Can I buy the item at one store and return / rebuy at another?
Yes but it is up to the stores discretion to allow you to get it for that stores in store price. If it is an online order, they are supposed to return it to the warehouse it came from so you will not be able to buy it back. It's YMMV on employees following this rule though.

Can I price match a Walmart clearance item at X store?
No. No store, including Walmart, PMs clearance prices. YMMV on getting PMs for these items but it is against every stores policy to do so.

I want to price match this clearance item at another Walmart, will they allow me to?
No WM (or any retailer) PMs the prices of other local stores.

BS said X of an item is in stock, but the employee said it isn't at my store, why did they lie to me?
They didn't. Sometimes items are misplaced, stolen, or the count is off. Employees are not all over the massive stock room nor do they know where every item is. Don't harass an employee or come on here saying they are keeping it for themselves. Sometimes, an item truly isn't in the store.

Why is BS always wrong?
BS is not wrong. Their information is directly from WM systems. Just like all stores, inventory and prices may be wrong for a certain store. Do not rely only on BS.

How do I find clearance items?
Go to the store and scan items, check SD, check this thread. Actually look for something you want.

Where in the store are clearance games located?

Clearance items in general can be on shelves, in dedicated clearance sections or in the stock room. For games specifically, they will be in the videogame glass cases, videogame value game isle or dedicated clearance section. It's random and depends on that stores layout / management.

What is the SKU or item number of this item?
Look it up yourself. There is a search function on this site, on BS site and you can Google the item almost 100% of the time. No one needs to spoon feed you this information and we shouldn't have 20 people asking for the same information that was already posted.

Acronyms to know.

WD My Book Desktop 6TB External Hard Drive WDBBGB0060HBK-NESN- $89 Regular Price $126

https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker?sku=141519982

Only problem was that the box looked like it had already been opened. I checked it after paying and everything seemed in order. They usually have tiny instruction manuals or warranty information but there wasn't any of that inside the box. Hopefully it actually works when I plug it in.

The 8TB version is $159 regular price in case anybody was wondering WDBGB0080HBK-NESN

The Technomancer for PS4 is $5 everywhere

https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=50775497

Went to a store that said had 3 copies. Couldn't find it and of course the lady working electronics didn't know how to use the app and just looked at a 3rd party seller and said they didn't sell it. I'm not gonna bother for a shitty game.

Mainstays split back futon(Gray)

Not expecting it to be all that great, but some of the stores around here(NC) have this between $45-60. I picked one up at $60 as a Xmas gift for my daughter to lounge on.

You won't find it on the WM site for some reason, so there aren't any reviews that I know of for it.
There happened to be 4 showing in stock at my local store for $50. The rest around the area were at $89.99 and had over 20 left. The box is significantly wider than the arcade 1up box, though it's slightly shorter. I had to tie it down to my roof.

My local store marked all their clearance games down to $10 with a few exceptions (notably Rage 2 Deluxe for $30). Some notable ones I saw were:

(PS4) Jurassic World Evolution

(3DS) Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn

(3DS) Kirby Battle Royale

(PS4) Conan Exiles

(XB1) A Way Out

(PS3/360) FIFA 18 Legacy Edition

(PS3) NBA 2K18

(PS3) GTA San Andreas

I know they had (WIIU) Pokken Tournament and Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE, as well as (NSW) Resident Evil Revelations + Origins Collections there before and they were gone, so those may have been marked down. Not sure if these are nationwide or just YMMV but figured these were worth posting. There were a couple other games I saw but I don't remember what they were.

May help some if you do a return / rebuy. Original Switch consoles have the same details as V2 at Walmart. So if your store had them on clearance, you can get either version for that price.

A store, for whatever reason, clearanced out Switches for $125 when V2 was coming out. V1 and V2 rings up as $125 there.

Very few people will be able to replicate this but may come in handy down the line for other stores that still have V1 in stock.

Thanks for posting this, I headed to the store right when I saw it this morning and it was only 40 mins away. 20 mins into the trip I checked the stock checker and sure enough, someone had already come and got both systems. I wasn't gonna take that L for driving so far, so I drove to another Walmart to buy 2 neon switches with my debit card then went back to that Walmart saying I wanted to change payment methods. Returned for $640, bought them back for $216. Employee was skeptical but let me have the deal. 2 cheap switches for me!

Damn, you got lucky. I would have probably been escorted outside by security if I tried something like

this at my local store.

You should go let the people on Slickdeals know this

There's actually nothing wrong with this. I've done it loads of times. Not with consoles, but games, NERF guns, LEGOs, and lots of other stuff.

How long would you say it hasnt been? For me, it was 10 years ago.
I joined in 2005 and it was great. I don't remember exactly when it "changed" here. People used to help each other out occasionally, picking up deals for people at cost and now I see people trying to sell $10 pizza coupons that they got for free. When people started talking about return fraud, they were immediately ganged up upon and would be told how wrong it is; now people exploit deals and brag about how many times they did it. And the flipping is out of control where people will buy up every bit of store stock they can to make just a dollar or two on each flip. It's not only here on CAG, but CAG never used to be like that. (That's why my sub-title is "Longing for retro-CAG. People helped me get in on deals a few times that were not available in my area, and I hooked up others with deals they couldn't get. I stopped when someone I helped out bragged in here about how they flipped what I gave them for cost.)

Ouch. Yeah, the community can be a bit more helpful. Doesn't help that people who were helpful have either been banned or left for other communities. Luckily people here still help, just differently.

Same here, I joined back in 05' not too much before you did. I liked being informed of sales and after having lurked a while I found it was time to interact with the community.

Times have changed not just on CAG but in the general market. People now opt to resell as a way to make a living (or prop up their living). So you are competing with people that see this as a job (even a meta-game of just flipping games). It's shameful that you got taken advantage of. At least you didn't lose money in the process.

Thankfully as the forum has changed I've also changed. I've narrowed what I buy and I'm getting more and more resistant to buying stuff I'm just curious about because it got cheap. I stopped collecting for systems completely and only collect specific franchises and buy new releases that fit tightly in with my idea of fun games. So I buy what I enjoy the most in gaming which makes my limited time gaming much more enjoyable without feeling the need to rush through because I'm buying more than I can play. I think I'll finish this year having spent under $500 with much of that being new release games (usually discounted at launch) and hardware. Next year I shouldn't be buying much hardware at all and I expect to spend closer to $300 pending what actually releases in my favorite franchises. Not that I have a fixed budget for games, but it's nice not expanding the backlog anymore and being able to get more fun out of what I'm wasting my time playing.

I'll gladly help other CAGs at cost as long as they have decent feedback. I also won't go posting shit at SD. That said I totally took advantage of the recent Target mishap to get me and a buddy copies of Link.

Oh wow, talk about nostalgia. There was a time all of those shenanigans were not just frowned upon but actively taken care of by the mods and Cheapy. Return fraud mentioned? Talking about pulling shady shit? You didn't get to stick around like people do now, let alone constantly brag about it. The hoarding flippers have always had a haven here tho, that's been a deal since I joined in '03. If it wasn't for some of the great members, this site would have dubbed The SlickDeals West Coast Branch already

Wow I didn’t know this was a thing

Since the hard drive I got last week was opened, I decided to go to a store to exchange it for one that was unopened. The hard drive comes up at $126 at the store but since I was just exchanging I was expecting them to just exchange it and that's it. Nope they wanted me to pay the extra $40. That's unacceptable. I asked for an assistant store manager and gives me the same excuse as the customer service rep. That they don't price match other stores. And I'm like. I'm not trying to price match anybody I just want one that's not opened! I just want to exchange it. Gives me the runaround that it's the same as price matching another store. Then I asked her how she'd feel if she was in my shoes. She just shrugged and said "those are the rules". No lady, if you were me you'd be screaming up a storm.

You bought a harddrive that had been opened and returned and clearanced from one store and felt entitled to get a full price sealed one at another store. They were right to refuse you. They should have banned you as well for return abuse.

The only person you should be angry at is yourself.

It wasn't marked as clearance when I bought it. It was just marked down. Maybe wait for people to explain what happened before antagonizing them.

... so to recap: you knowingly bought an open box hard drive at a discount and then got mad when a store was unable to exchange for an item whose box had not been opened... when there was nothing wrong with it other than you didn’t like that the first one was opened?

But... you knew it had been obviously opened when you bought it, right? And that was the reason it was $40 off? Why should they give you an unopened one for the same price?

The biggest problem with the site was, nearly all the mods left, and were never replaced. io is the only mod I know still here. Dunno why more weren’t added, but that’s the biggest reason the community went to shit.

I didn't know it was opened until I had already bought it and decided that since I already have it, might as well try it out first. Then when I got home thought about just exchanging it for one that wasn't opened.

Mad props rocking that WhipSmart icon. Man that was a long time ago. We had some great mods that kept this place a lot less shitty back then

Don't worry about it. I think there's just something in the air around here. Your actions were perfectly reasonable and I don't know why you're getting piled on by a bunch of morons.

Clearance games at my local WM. Hopefully these gets another drop because I saw a few titles I want.

If it was discounted as an opened/return item then yeah...they should have booted you out of the store when you kept pressing the issue of an exchange.  If it was a normal priced item, last one left, and it was opened and you honestly didn't notice until you got home, ok then...  However if it was a special priced item, in no way should they ever PM at another store since that IS policy...however if it was discounted BECAUSE it was damaged/open/etc then that makes it even a harder "HELL NO" return.

Also, about the community getting worse, I've seen a lot of old school people here jumping in on  "deals" that would have been either scoffed at or even deleted way back when...like that 2 for 1 Link's Awakening debacle...ahem...so it goes both ways.

$19.93 and $29.83 aren't clearance prices. Those are just regular prices marked as clearance. Which is pretty misleading and scummy imo. Clearance prices at Walmarts are (usually) whole number prices like $10, $15, $8, etc.

I can confirm this: I’ve spoken to multiple WM managers and they’ve all told me that true “clearance” prices end in .00 (i.e., $19.00), much like Target’s clearance prices usually end in .x8 if the MSRP ends in .x9 (i.e., $19.99 => $5.98) based on their 30%/50%/70% off.

I have no idea how people find deals on good games on clearance at Walmart. Over here, everything is overpriced and they have games from 2010.
