Warning: Major Harry Potter Spoilers spreading throughout the net...

vienge

CAGiversary!
If you don't want to be ruined as to major plot points to the book I'd suggest not being online or at least be careful where you go. One HP fan forum already was shutdown because people kept spamming a picture of one of the pages where a major plot twist happens. www.cosforums.com

You Harry Potter fans have been warned.

You forget to point out the biggest spoiler of all to people: They are getting their undies in a bunch over a book written FOR TEN YEAR OLDS! I don't know what is wrong with the world, but I stopped reading children's books when I was no longer a child. fuck all the Harry Potter fans.

Well while they arent quite childrens books, and I did enjoy 1-4 (5 being awful), I think its gross that JK Rowling is a pseudo-celebrity and that everyone has to hold their breath when she cries and says that she kills someone off in her book.
What garbage.

:applause:
Is it wrong to enjoy a book written for a younger generation? Of course not.
Is it wrong to revolve your whole damn life around it, then completely freak out over some spoiler that you're bound to hear before you finish the book anyway? Well, you decide.

I've just had the book ruined for me because of morons posting spoilers... And I've had enough... Don't know when we'll be back... Frankly I don't care that much anymore... lanifiel - CoS Administrator...

That's pathetic.

OH GOD the new Harry Potter book has been ruined for me I HAVE NO PURPOSE IN LIFE I MUST KILL MYSELF NOW!

..freakin emo kids. I'm glad I've never read or watched any HP books/movies. Someone post a link to the page, i'm going to spoil myself then have fun spoiling others! :D

I don't give two shits either way, I don't even read the books.

But I thought I'd be nice and warn the one or two people that actually care.
That's pathetic.

Y'know, I just thought about this...if it was a scan of the page...WHY THE fuck DID THE STUPID fuck READ IT?

....... MUAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH. God damn thats funny! I wish i would have thought to do that......oh wait that would be i would have to some what read it...................*pukes*

Anyway, its just a book. I hate when people get all upset when they hear a part of a story to a book or movie, it does not ruining that much. If someone can tell you one thing about a plotline and it spoils the movie for you entirely then it prolly wasnt that good of a moive/book to begin with.

Just so you all know, if someone posts the spoilers for Smackdown in the wrestlin thread (which is taped Tuesdays but airs Thursdays) he cries like a little bitch.

I'd say it's just as lame as somebody freaking out over somebody posting visible Smackdown spoilers. ;)

To each their own, and spoilers are no fun no matter what they are.

As for childrens' books, who cares? Who among us doesn't still enjoy Where's Waldo?

/Not a Harry Potter fan, but if it makes you happy, go for broke.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!! I just thought about this, so they posted a PICTURE of the page in which a major play spoilers happens? Then why the hell did you read the entire page? Why didnt you notice it was a part of the book and just stop reading it?

You good sir are an idiot. Stop crying it was your fault that it got spoiled.

Have you actually tried reading one? They are actually fun reads and well written. Something I can't say for the ever so popular Da Vinci Code.

Hell, my curmudgeon of a grandfather, who is just about the biggest asshole I know, read the first one and liked it. I haven't seen such anger since I last read one of my own posts.

Apply the principle to games and see if you think the same way. If someone had come out before FF7 came out and spammed boards saying that Aeris died, or before KOTOR was released and told you the main character was actually Revan, there'd be much bitching about it. And a book doesn't even have gameplay to fall back on. It's just plot. Once that's given away, there's not much point.

Just so you know, a year back I posted how Aeris dies in FF7 and still had people bitch about the spoiler. You might want to put some sort of spoiler alert for all of the whiny people out there.

Due to not liking to pay $50+ for a game, I've played plenty of story-heavy games long after they've been released (2-3 years). And even WITH the countless spoilers over that period of time, I've still enjoyed the game. Same with books. Even if I've heard about the plot and all its twists, I still enjoy reading it myself.

Oh it's true, if I wasn't so lazy I would search for the posts that happened just last week in the rasslin thread. He was cryin' so hard that he and a few other of the kids wanted to go and make a Smackdown Spoiler Thread where spoilers could be posted as not to disrupt the flow of the "normal" thread.

It's not the same, then. You're accepting that you may be spoiled by waiting so long to pick a game up. But if you buy a story-heavy game on the day it's released, and someone posts a major spoiler for the plot before you even get the game in the console, can you say you'd be particularly happy with that?

I can say I'd be perfectly, honestly, 100% fine with it. Stuff like that happens, and I don't let it bother me, nor do I let it ruin my experience. As was mentioned earlier, if one or two spoilers ruin the entire experience, be it a game, book, movie, or anything, the story isn't worth it anyway.

I only "cried like a little bitch" because of the ECW angles and I didn't want to be spoiled. I don't usually watch SmackDown, hence the no SmackDown chat. The spoiler thing was once or twice for SmackDown, then I got pissed for someone doing it to Raw, even though Raw was over.

LOL, is that true scorch?

Oh yes, you know me, just.. tears streaming down the face because someone spoiled my fake entertainment for the week. Did you happen to mention the post where I said I actually didn't care?

I'm the kind of person that if I come across a spoiler for a movie or book and read it, it doesn't effect my like/dislike for the product.

I could have the new book spoiled for me, and I'd still read it. A lot of times, I hear spoilers for a new movie, and I still see it. Doesn't bother me.

That webmaster needs to just relax and act like a calm, rational adult. Whether or not those spoilers are real, who cares? Either you are going to read the book or not. No one cares what you do.

Of course, the thing is, with things like this, I know to avoid places with even slight connections to whatever I don't want spoiled, because 99.9% of the people on the interbutt are assholes, so it's to be expected that spoilers will be posted.
OMGLOLROFLWAFFLECAKESLOLCOPTER
haha you're mad cause you cry over wrestling

Actually I think they wanted to make a separate thread w/o spoilers, cuz I'll be damned if any wrestling thread I make is censored in any way outside Shaquille O'neal himself.

Truth be told I believe it was someone else that had a hissy fit, I know Scorch complained about some Raw spoilers, but then in his next post he said how little he cared about it all.

I could be wrong though, when folks start complaining I usually just skip ahead to the next post.

Actually in all honesty I do tend to get a little perturbed when something gets "spoiled" for me. As far as HP is concerned spoil away as I've never read a single book, nor watched one of those movies, nor do I have any intentions of doing so anytime soon.

Off topic though (as usual) when it comes to games I'd prefer it if I could avoid major spoilers. Now unless you played FF7 when it came out, then there's no way you could've avoided the Aeris spoiler. In fact I'm pretty sure there are as-yet undiscovered tribes in the heart of the Peruvian jungle that know that Aeris dies at the end of disc 1.

My solution is to just avoid websites that might contain spoilers if it's that important to you. It's pretty simple logic to me, ya know? If you don't want to read spoilers on CAG, then just read the gaming deals and go about your business. If it rains, you use an umbrella, very practical logic.

Yeah, I guess most people know to avoid websites related to the books, but I had no idea that Something Awful would post the damn spoiler on their main page. Ugh. Reminds me of a few years ago when Dave Barry described a major plot twist in Star Wars: Episode One a whole month before it came out in the theatres.
It's an infantile prank - since they can't derive enjoyment from a book or a movie, they try to make sure that no one else can, either.

Well I think it's nice to try to give people advance warning, but to me spoilers have never been such a huge deal. If someone tells me a certain event, especially in a series I enjoy, I'll still read/play/watch the thing because I really want to see how it happens.

It seriously is, I wish I had a bunch of kittens running around here, then I'd post pictures of them in that Jessica Alba appreciation thread... talk about ruining something for someone else!

Jessica Alba and pussy, how can that be BAD?

I'm not sure that really makes a difference ... suppose you're someone who can read (which may or may not apply if you're a CAG), and you were told that Brave New World ended in a clusterfuck. You'd probably be less than pleased, and that's decades old.

Or what if someone told you that in "The Night of the Living Dead" that, after being the only survvivor of a horrific onslaught of zombies, the hero of the movie was mistaken for a zombie and sniped by zombie hunters (the morning after).

i read 1-3 ..they helped speed the ride i took every morning last year to work, and i have to say they are good..spurred my imagination, i was reading 1 when 5 game out..and i saw so many ppl reading it..even this guy had a book cover on the book as not to be embarassed i presume... but seriously, i have a few HP obsessed friends..and wow..it gets kinda annoying hearing about this stuff..THEY'RE OLDER THAN I AM FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD!!..its a fun book to read..but dont get ur panties in a bunch..

Haha. That's funny, because I'm reading that now. Thanks. Asshole.

Just kidding I really don't care.

Well with Brave New World I think the bulk of the book is about the journey to the end, not the ending itself.

After reading hte genmay forums from that link, I'm inclined to believe they are all maybe 15 years old.
Only one thing was funny and that was the idea of puting it on a shirt.
Would be worth taking a movie camera just to watch people's reactions when you wait in line to buy the book with the key sentence in BOLD uppercase letters. You could sell the video to "A Current Affair" and be set for the rest of the year.
