Is anyone here (besides you) actually going to buy a 360 at launch? It's going to be like $500 to get up and running and that isn't too cheapass...

I'm guessin we will find out. Personally I'm trading my ps2 towards it and a ton of games, then I've also planned on getting one so it wasn't that hard to set aside like $100 each month of the summer.

I hope you don't regret trading in the PS2 but if you are getting a PS3 then I guess it won't make a difference. I'm very interested in the 360 but I'm going to wait for a price drop and see how the system does before committing. It's not a matter of having the money it's still $500 and that's a lot of money for a console and a few games. I hope you like it!

We're not all poor, ie cheap.

Many of us can spend whatever we want on games or consoles but got extremely tired of paying $29.99-49.99 on games that had dropped to $14.99-29.99 at various retailers. Price mismatching a couple of years ago was rampant. You could go into BB and find Beach Spikers or Tribes Arial Assault for $9.99 when they were selling at EB, GS, CC etc. for $49.99. There were countless other examples of such disparity. Those were two of the most extreme.

It was very common to find $20 titles that were $50 other places. That's why I started coming to CAG. I didn't want to get fucked in the ass on non-universal price drops.

Since then just about every game has universal price drops and you don't see 3-9 months of a game being one price somewhere and another price at another chain.

That being said I'm getting the $400 package, play and charge, battery pack, second wired controller and 8 games. Nothing cheap about that but I don't expect any $20 launch titles at BB with the same game being priced at $50 everywhere else so I don't mind spending the money.

Yeah, the last one like that I remember is La Pucelle.. $19.99 from the get-go at Target, $49.99 everywhere else.

I'll be getting one at launch. I'm a cheapass, but not with game systems.

I'm probably gonna get the $399.99 package and limit myself to at least two or three games during the launch -- I don't want to go totally overboard.

I'll probably get:

The Elder Scrolls of Oblivion
Perfect Dark Zero (Please, God, don't suck)
& Kameo

If you buy the core system and a memory card (which you'll need), I'll cost you $340. You, and everybody here might as well get the $399 version.

According to EB it is, thats y i put it on the most likely list, cause it seems thats one that M$ is pushing heavily.

*IGN has the release date for november, but its pretty sad that hardly anyone has came out and said if their game is launching w/ the system or not.

That would be hilarious, if Perfect Dark Zero does not end up as a launch title. Rare announced prior to GameCube's launch that the game would be released along with the system. And that was what 4-5 years ago. If it doesn't get released in November, what the fark has Rare been doing? Two missed system launches, that would be great.
I thought perfect dark wasn't a launch title...
It's supposed to be, and it better be. Or rare will find a ticking package on their doorstep.

I'm still on the fence, but if I do pick up one at launch it'll be..

1. Xbox 360 "premium" system.

2. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

3. A Gamefly account. Hopefully the will be renting Xbox 360 games, and not jack up the monthly membership fees because of them.

I'm getting one, VGA cables, and 1 or 2 games... Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is my top priority, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo are probable. Chrome Hounds will depend on how the reviews are. I'm loathe to buy sports games at launch, but I do want NHL 2k6.

I hope EB does the midnight thing like they did with Halo 2.

I'm really looking into Condemned, was looking into The Outfit til i saw a recent preview at gamespy saying march. I'm still undecided on what titles i want.

im getting one myself, already pre-ordered I think this is the first time Ill get a system at launch wont be my last I plan on getting the revo and the ps3 at launch also. oblivion sounds like my number one game for now and ill need another maybe ghost recon 3 if its a launch ( that game will look ridiculous on my HDTV I cant wait ) .

Oh and maybe kameo seeing as how im still a little fond of since the first time I saw it. I was talking to the dude at eb about midnight launch he said most likely but the eb I pre-ordered was in a mall so I dont think I will have that luxury .
