Weakest Black Friday ever?

kev

CAGiversary!
I've never seen such a sorry bunch of ads in my life.

I have accepted the fact that stores aren't giving free stuff to the early birds any more but c'mon, at least give us some worthwhile deals.

I wanted a good digital camera this year. NOTHING.
I wanted a nice home theater system. NOTIHNG.
I wanted a nice TV... ok, lots of those, but not what *I* wanted.

Each year half the fun of BF for me is seeing all the things I didn't know I wanted. This year I haven't seen anything that's been so amazingly priced that I must get it.

Seems to me the only store worth hitting early is Best Buy and since I have no desire to be anywhere near a BB on that day, maybe I'll just sleep in for the first time in 7 years.

I blame the overpowered U.S. economy.

im hittin office max...........lots of free after rebates i could use(that gel mouspad for 1) and some cheap cd's. also a 20$ hp scanner

sears has the 10

sears has the 10$ giftcard for free

walgreens has HELLAGOOD deals(cheap cd's, cd cases, soda, and movies)

kmart-my mom wants to go
walmart-GBA is a MAYBE since i liked those SOOO much better than the SP but 40$ isnt that great and im probably getting a DS-my mom wants to go their also

im only bringing my mom so i can get 4 packs of 99 cent cd's instead of 2(a 30 pack of music cdr, and 50 pack of data cd's for 99 cents each!

See, I'd blame the economy for being underpowered.

I think a lot of stores realize that people won't be buying likew they use to, so why stack the deck with a ton of loss leaders if that's all people are going to buy?

Because of debt everyone is pretty tapped out. I know I'll on;ly be spending $400 this year. And if it wasn't for the GBA SP i would be $300.

I'm trying to decide wether to hit up Best buy. I want a computer, some CDs, and the 5 for 25 DVD deal.

If I go to BB then I'm going to go to target for the TV DVDs.

But I'm going to go to EB before work for sure. The 2 for 25 and Doom 3 are pulling me in.

I was looking for a good home theater system too and couldnt find any but does anyone know of any speakers on sale?

EB's buy 2 get 1 free is pretty good especially since a lot of games have dropped in price. If you get 3 games that are priced the same, it's 30% off and then there's the additional 10% w/edge card. If I had an edge card I would be all over this deal.

The 2 for $25 is good also depending on what GH games they have for sale - might want to pick up Jak 2 and something else.

OfficeMax has some good deals and Bestbuy has that great eMachine w/LCD monitor deal.

Not that I'd normally be up and shopping in a hazardous environment on Black Friday, though this seems like little reason to give it a try.

I'm going to pick up a copy for Riddick for $10 at EB. I want to pick up Mario Golf at EB, I just need another game to buy with it. I'm thinking of either THUG or Animal Crossing. I'll likely pick up any other PC games that I want for dirt cheap.

I hope the ads tomorrow prove me wrong but so far it looks like a very weak day for holiday shopping. I guess the retailers have figured out that Americans no longer have money and the one's that do have the cash are not going to be in line for the door busters.

whats with all the damn rebates

id give them money just to get me off of sending in the rebates........... everything is free or cheap...............and then you see AFTER REBATES

The 2 for 25 at EB's an awesome deal in my opinion. Also, I've been waiting for a good deal on Rome: Total War and just found it at EB too. I hope I can get there in time. Are they opening early?

I agree with the OP, deals pretty much suck. I guess Doom 3 is a good deal? But I have absolutely no interest in it, I hate FPS and my current computer couldn't run it well enough even if I did. I also don't buy PH/GH/PC games because of the cover art, so there goes that deal, and even if I did it's only 5$ cheaper then just getting them at BB with the GGC. I'd rather spend the extra 5$ and get it when I want to and not have to wake up at the ass-crack of dawn and deal with beligerent crowds, AND it looks like it will be good online too. The Buy 2 get 1 free sale at EB is also decent, but it's good online and they gurantee their games complete, so what's the point of going to the B&M locations? If your games come scratched, just swap them for better copies at your convience later on at the B&M stores.

This is a way for them to make a few extra bucks. Some people just won't go to the hassle of actually doing the refunds, or they'll do them incorrectly.

the deals suck because the stores know that people are now trained to shop the day after thanksgiving. People turn out in droves and the stores know your going to show up. So why offer really great deals and just show off your regular deals as spectacular.

There are a few nice looking laptop deals out there like the one at Best Buy.

EB seems to have very good stuff this year surely, but i'll order all that online before I even leave the house. I can order EB stuff at 4am since I'm on the west coast.

Oh well, back to camera hunting, the ads are here.

Finally, I'm glad to see I'm not just jaded and that the ads really are weak. I think the guy who said the stores know we are coming out anywhere is probably right on the money. It used to be though that the stores used the door busters to make sure it was YOUR store they came to. Now that we crazy consumers shop at multiple stores they don't do it so much.

Doom 3 for $20 is a great deal, the only one I'm interested in. I'm pretty sure the website will have it for $20 as well, so I'm going to get it that way. They had Riddick for $10 on the site yesterday morning so I got in on that too

A girl that I know wants me to go with her to help her shop. AKA carrying all her bags. I'm not sure If I want to go seeing as I don't want to get mauled by psycho soccer moms.

I think the that is the most fun about tomorrow, is watching the people fighting for shit and stealing stuff from others carts. I am going to brave the masses and go to Target for the seasons and Tales of Symphonia. One of the funniest things is when a mom has a kid in the stroller, I mean for crying out loud, did you really need to bring the kid into this. Not many people tomorrow are going to care if children are in the way or not, all their concern is on is getting their deals.

that is a really old model - 1200 - really? I was thinking more in the $800 range...
Does anybody know if the Toshiba Celeron M 330 is worth $500?

most definitly, they usually retail for around $1200 at BB.
Maybe the good deals were sent over-seas? Along with all of our tech jobs!! :)

You will never see a Laptop selling for $800 at BB, the cheapest you will usually see is $1100ish
