I got the followinf message from Ebay, I'm scared to follow the instructions as it seems it could be a scam to steal my identity... did anyone else get it? Do you think it legitimate? Here is a copy of the text:

eBay Safety Measures

Dear ________,

After several fraud complaints from the eBay members, the eBay Inc. had developed a security program against the fraudulend attempts of accounts thefts. For that we have to secure all the members personal informations by updating and checking the registered informations.
Please update and verify your information by clicking the link below:

If your account information is not updated within 48 hours then your ability to sell or bid on eBay will become restricted.

I thought ebay's policy is that they will never ask for certain information. Also, arent all emails from them supposed to use your first and last name? not member or email address or something like that?

I got one similar to that just today, although mine was something about ip intrusion, I laughed when I looked over it and saw all the scammer's spelling mistakes, I was especially appalled when I saw they kept spelling safe harbor "safe harbour" damn foriegners....

definite scam, i get those supposedly from ebay and paypal all the time, they say how ur account will get locked if you dont fill it out and a bunch of bs like that

I've got that, as well as one's regarding credit info (where I had spent 380.0 dollars in canada, while I 'live in FL. please note, the '.0'. that's not a mistake). Also from my bank, cell phone people (wanted my SSN and credit #). Anyway, almost all e-contracts state that they will will directly contact you for your info -usually a phone, or cert snail mail with a call back. Never email.

hope that helps,
-K
Thanks guys, that's what I thought... thanks for the sarcasm bignick... lol
I try. Seriously, no company will ever contact you via email to update your account. If you are ever in doubt, type in the companies URL yourself and go to your account. If somethings is up, they will tell you there.
looks legit to me, go ahead and click the link and put in your info.
Quite honestly the only person that hit the nail on the head.
