Westinghouse HDTV

Vertigo

CAGiversary!
I was wondering if anybody has ever owned one of these before? Or if anybody has any idea how reputable this company is.

Thinking about picking up the 27" HDTV from the black friday best buy ad, but I don't wanna buy a turd:)

Also does anybody know if the Black friday pricing applies online as well?
I know it wouldn't for the doorbuster stuff, but just the regular ad items?

My Dad just got a 46" Westing house and its great. However, I think the one bestbuy is still might be a turd. Check around for some reviews on that exact model, though for the price it can't be thaaaaaat bad.

Westinghouse makes killer LCDs, but you're going to have to wait outside 12 hours in advance and literally run when the doors open to get one. The 27" and 32" will be gone as soon as the first 25-50 (however many sets they have) customers walk through the door.

so it wouldn't be available at the BF price online?

Even if it was they would be grabbed up in -20 seconds

I still think i will try..........who knows, I'm a quick clicker!

Anybody else have any reviews of it? I've only found 2 and they seem to conflict with each other
I want to get the 32" Westinghouse HDTV.....is that one good?
I found reviews on CNET and one on a search for google, but those were for the 27"

maybe they have more for the 32"

comon....12 hours, give me a break...you need to wait no more then two hours MAX out in front of best buy. This isnt a resellers item like the Wii or PS3.

Last year i was inside best buy three hours past open and they still had all their doorbusters.

you have to understand that your case is the exception, and definitely not the rule. it's been stated more than several times here on CAG that most Best Buys' lines begin to form in the very early hours of the morning (1-2am), and some begin forming the night before! swing by any of my FIVE nearest Best Buys, and you will see a line at 1am, guaranteed. it's been that way for a couple years now.

in any event, you're not going to have to do any running. Best Buy employees move along the line an hour before the store opens and pass out vouchers to the first xx amount of people waiting in line. this usually guarantees the items' availability to those folks for a few hours, giving them time to shop for other items before picking up their doorbusters on the way out.

so, uh, like i was asking..........can i order it online at the discount price?

if so, what time should I start with the order?

I have a couple of friends that bought westinghouse monitors and they love them. As far as the HDTVs I have read good reviews about their price and quality. As far as westinghouse as a brand name I think they are experimenting with the TV market right now but have been turning out quality products ( lighting, lcds, industrial equipment ) for at least ten years now.

The average "score" online for a westinghouse is 8/10. People seemed to be very satisfied with them and for the price they bought it for. So this BF price can't be passed up.

We have a 32" Westinghouse LCD and it looks great for DVDs, HDTV, and games. Standard TV tends to look a bit washed out. Overall we are very happy with the purchase.

The Northgate Best Buy here in Seattle and also the local Best Buy from back in Louisiana both have/had Black Friday lines starting before midnight the night before. And these TVs, especially those two smaller Westinghouses, are the two hottest Black Friday items of any retailer thus fair.

And they could -easily- be resold for $200+ profit each. I doubt many resellers will fight for them, but fact is they're being sold for far below market value so very few people will pass on them.

Honestly, I think you'd be better off going with one of the Circuit City or Walmart deals, even though they aren't quite as hot, just because you'll have a better chance of actually getting your hands on one.

standard TV looks washed out on all HDTVs, because the picture is stretched out

This is true, you need to utilize the 4:3 ratio setting that most HDTV's have to correctly get the aspect ratio look of standard TV.

Anyone know who else carries these models so if we don't get one at BB we can price match somewhere else? Thanks.

I think the only place where you're going to be able to PM the Westy is at wal-mart...if they have it in stock....and you need to PM it between 5am-12pm.

ok,so I went to BB to look at the 32" TV and it looked good....it's even widescreen! Now my widescreen DVD's won't have black bars, now I just need the Wii and PS3 with me....thanks for the info guys!
Is this the 32" model that's going to be on sale for Black Friday? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?categoryid=pcmcat31800050024&id=1134703181778&skuid=7680011&tl_mid=5760&type=product&DCMP=KNC-TLC&ref=25&loc=SHP
No, thats not the model that will be on sale. I believe the model number is 3213. Last I checked it was shown online, but I've read that it was taken down. It looks like this set will be a BB BF exclusive as its not even posted on the westinghouse website.

This is the one listed as on sale in the BF Sales thread.

I found a review on PCMag.com. Here it is. 4/5, not bad. I'm really thinking about getting in line for this one.

I was at Best Buy this weekend and I noticed the colors were not as good as other brands. It looked washed out to me. But with these discounts you are looking at 1/2 price so it may be worth it still.

Your stores must be the exception. I usually get in line about 5am and there are only about 40 people ahead of me. I've never had a problem getting the items I come for. However maybe this will be the year of HD and all the HDs will be gone in 10 minutes.

a bit off topic, but does anyone know how good that westinghouse 22 inch PC LCD Monitor for 200 bucks is? I went to the store and the image was kinda soft compared to my 19 inch samsung LCD monitor.

mine and everyone else's then, yes. ;)

being how the min of the 32 West is 15 units, I could see it going fairly quickly if there are 40 different individual groups ahead of you
anyone know if we have to capm out or something? i dont go shopping on Bfs
its not going to be like camping out for the wii/ps3/360.

I say at the most, with the stores opening up at 5am this year... you should either be at your location by 11pm/12am and just wait it out... bring a jacket with a hood and gloves as usually (depending on your location) it gets very cold. Try to go to the bathroom ahead of time and don't eat or drink much so you don't have to go to the bathroom during your wait. Be prepared to defend your spot as opening time gets closer because there WILL BE people coming out of no where and CUT infront of you.
