I just rented RE:O today, and right now I really don't care for it. If I change my mind I certainly will not pay more than $30 for a new copy. What do you guys think?

I only played it for a few hours one night at a friend's house, but I thought it was super hot. The communication system is a bit broken, but I thought that was livable. I don't know how much I'd despise it without the harddrive, though...I'd buy it myself if I had the HDD.

I don't have it, but one of my friends do. I've seen him playing it a couple times, and graphically, it looks good. RE has never really been my game, so I don't play it. But the voices in the game are horrible, IMO. I think they should have either had no voices and just left the text, have the voices actually match the text, or just have voice. And they talk like every two seconds. Also the heartbeat in between each entrance and exit from a room is annoying as well.

I bought it the day it came out. (Had it on reserve) and I was extremely dissappointed. I traded it in 9 days later. The gameply is slow paced and boring. Don't yell at me for that because I love the other resident evil's they are my fav. series. But this one just isn't interesting. The online play sucks because you can't talk to your fellow players making the game play broken. And alot of the people will take the tiny supply of ammo and things. Don't get this game. It doesn't live up to the hype. And for a $50 price tag pfffft I wuld rather take my cheap ass n buy 3 cheap games.

Damn, tough croad here. I absolutley love RE:O. Yes the com system sucks, but then agian, most of the time people say stupid shit anyways, so fuck a comm system. Besides with practice the com system's not too bad at all. If you thought the Action was too slow, then you were on depressants (Drugs are bad, mmmkay:)).

It has a high learning curve and is very difficult, I'd recommend it to diehard RE fans only.

redgopher I have been looking to get it. If you don't like it I would be willing to trade these for it.
Is there any single player campaign at all? I really don't dig online games
Yes, it's pretty much identical to the online game too.

Oh yeah, so I guess you can't fucking save like you normally do in RE... they're "temporary saves" meaning you get to save ONCE and if you die... well shit damn, you start the fuck over.

I'd buy this for $20 new. But that's probably about it.

the comm isnt a problem for me simply bc these types of games I play with people i know so we set up a voice chat on xbl

i havent picked the game up yet simply waiting on getting a hdd

Yes, it's identical to the online portion, only you get 2 AI partners who are really fucking dumb. If you don't dig online games for one reason or another, then you should pass on RE:O, most of the fun comes from the online portion.

This may very well be the most underated (or hated on) RE game of all time. I guess people were just expecting Everquest only with RE characters.

I only play it online and in my opinion its simply the best RE experience I've had since I got my hands on RE way back when. When you get a good group together who use team work and help each other the game draws you in. The communication is fine. So much the better then having "L33t d00d" G1v3 m3 teh p1st0l b14tch" *shudders* Sorry you guys didn't enjoy it.

I'm a big Resident Evil Fan, what I thought of Outbreak? Great game, Looks good, plays good (well as good as any of the other RE's) and is fun also addictive (Online). What really kill's me is the loading. At first you get used to it but after you mastered the game (I know all the maps by heart) the loading just gets so repetitive and old quicky. If it wasn't for the dreaded loading times I would have loved it, but since I don't have the HDD and beaten all the scenerios I just cant deal with it anymore. I don't have ADD, play the game for 30min and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I got two questions about the game. What does the HDD do for the game? Can you use aa USB keyboard to type to other players?

the HDD significantly cuts down on the long-ass load times that hamper the pacing of the game. whats interesting is that if you play online with the HDD, you can only play with people who also have the HDD and vice versa.

and no, there is no keyboard support. just some canned phrases.

The USB Keyboard Question:

There is support for the Keyboard but not while you're playing. In the lobby in the Free Mode Servers you can use the keyboard to talk to fellow comrads but during the game you can't use the Keyboard or you're Mic.

All you have to communicate with is a series of pre-set sayings, for example when you press the left analog stick up you're character will say "over there" and the character will point in the direction you want it to. There are about 7 or 8 commands you can give fellow players, Help, over there, follow me,ect. It works well but sometimes its a pain in the ass when you want to tell you're friend to do something and they do something else. If you play with experince players you kind of get the feeling of what the want you to do, newbies on the other hand just run around and dont listen. You get used to the lack of communication the system they have in the game works well.
u cant use the USB keyboard either and the save system is retarded too
There is no save system.
Yeah You can save if you find the type writer but once you save it resets the game and when you load it when you want to play it deletes the old save, so it's pretty much useless. RE outbreak scenerios can all be beaten in less than an hour and 30 minutes so it's not a big deal. I usually save when I don't feel like playing anymore so it comes in handy.

Being a survival horror nut, I was totally looking forward to this game and picked it up day one. I loaded it up w/my HDD, and decided to give the online game a whirl. At first, I was pretty disappointed b/c the people I was playing with were complete retards. However, I picked the game up again last night and decided to play the one-player game. I LOVE IT!

You pretty much rule your other group members. If they have an item you want, just go to your menu and request it. If you need help, just yell. Its certainly not perfect, but it works well enough.

And I really dig the way the game is broken up into scenarios. You can just go nuts and use all your ammo and healing items and then you get to start fresh in the next scenario.

My only gripe is the way the scenarios tie together. The first one is basically surviving the outbreak, but the next one starts out in Umbrella's lab with no explanation as to how you got there. Plus I had different people with me! Heh, craziness.

Give it a chance, or at least get it when its cheaper so I'll have more competent people to play with online.

The HDD cuts down the load times from 10-12 heatbeats when entering a door to 3-4. One thing nice is that you can switch between HDD and DVD games online so you do have a lot more servers to choose from. If I did not get a really good deal on the HDD, I would not have bought it since I have no plans to play FFXI online with my PS2. One nice feature of the HDD is that you can backup your Memory Cards into a folder and then just load them on the Memory Card when you are ready to play that game. Resident Evil Outbreak so far is the only game I own that I cannot backup the save to the HDD.

That's the other awesome thing about the HDD: more memory card space than you'll ever need. Thank god I got it in time, I had just used up my second card.

Yeah, I also noticed that it's my only game save that I can't copy over to my HDD. Luckily, I don't have to keep like one franchise per memory card on my sports games. But anyway, about that RE: Outbreak, it's a decent all around, and pretty fun at it's best. The dumb communication system and small number of scenarios are the biggest detractors.

There is keyboard support, just not in game.

The game moves way to slow from the disc, I was likig it but the load times really takes away the enjoyment.

The GFX were great, the puzzles were to simplistic.

I think the game via disc could of ran faster, it just a cop out with sony to sell more HDD.

I'm glad my rental was free (sup guaranteed in-stock?). I just didn't like it. I'm annoyed that after all these year it still ahs the same damn inventory/control scheme crap, the load times were abysmal, and the game seems to toss you into the fire with little clue as to what you are supposed to be doing.

They should have given up after Resident Evil 2. And who even knows what's up with the story arc, they do more fractured timeline stuff than Quentin Tarantino.

I know i will piss some RE fans of but why not :p
I agree, I loved the first one and 2 was icing on the cake. We never really got a true sequel after 2, everything after 2 was crap. It sad when a good franchise goes down the crapper.
Zero i liked gameplay wise, but how it tied in was weak, same ole RE thing, bad story.

What with the crappy storylines?

I wont lie, being ahuge RE fan I bought all the crap afterwards, but honestly i wll play 4 and that be it. Thanx again capcom to milk a franchise into its grave :(

My wish, freedom fighters with zombies, alot of them. I buy that in a second.
