i also felt sunshine was quite enjoyable. really dont know why people diss it so much, if you liked mario 64 why the hell wouldnt you enjoy sunshine save for the fact you are disapointed it didnt revolutionize gaming? personally i dont care if the new mario 128 is revolutionary or not, if its fun and its mario ill buy it and play the hell out of it because its really as good as platforming gets, revolutionary or not...
by the way, i love how everyone wants mario games to revolutionize gaming, but if it were anything but a platformer (an old fashioned gameplay style) people would boycot nintendo and go on a killing rampage (or possibly something less dramatic)? dont you think those two standards contradict themselves when you form an expectation and hype? mario 64 was able to pull it off because 3d was new. come on, you have to give nintendo credit for what they actually have done and not what you assume they should be capable of in the future when gaming has no forseeable revolutions to come. i mean, the DS was brilliant because it introduced a new way to play games, and until these new ways are established there is no way to expect a revolutionary mario game. Now we can justifiably expect a new one for DS that is amazing because the DS itself has opened up a way to do so. that simply wont happen with current gen consoles though, so stop complaining and wait until gaming itself is capable of being revolutionized!
