They used to make pretty decent games, but now we get GRABBED BY GHOULIES. The conker remake is just a port with updated multiplayer. But I bet the play mechanics will be the same which made the originals multiplayer boring anyway. Even back then though we had crap like banjo tooie and diddy kong racing.

I was wondering the same thing, since they are in bed with microsoft. They have done nothing. I need to see perfect dark 2, or another fps, by them.

Kids today...

You don't even know Rare's first games, Jetpac, Pssst, Trans-am, Cookie, Lunar Jetman, Atic-atac, Sabre Wulf (which just got its gameboy sequel)...

Not to mention the revolutionary Knight Lore (revolutionary isometric fun!)

M$: Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. We wish to improve ourselves. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service ours.

Rare: uhh... okay.

Jetpac was great. I do agree though, Rare's games for N64 were great: Goldeneye, DK64, Jet Force Gemini, etc. I have yet to see a game for the box that I like from them...

Well, that is only from a sample of one game so far jeffrey.

Though, I must admit that I'm pretty dissapointed that they've only managed to roll out one Xbox game. It's been over 2 years since the acquisition hasn't it? I'm guessing they must be working on (possibly several) launch titles for the nextbox and that is why their output for the current console has been such a trickle. At least there are two more titles definitely in the pipe for the Xbox. Though I think the first isn't due until early '05.

I liked GBtG, but it's certainly not at the level of BK or Goldeneye.

Dont forget R.C. Pro-AM. Best racing game ever! (for 80's standards)

I think Rare is one of the most overrated developers ever. Goldeneye and Jet Force Gemini are the only ones I really loved. Perfect Dark and the DKC games were decent. The rest sucked. Banjo Kazooie? Diddy Kong Racing? Donkey Kong 64?!

Kameo looks pretty cool, though. I'm looking forward to it.

Also, speaking of JFG, where the hell is the sequel? I would go crazy if there was a Jet Force Gemini 2. I think it's one of the most underrated games ever. Instead of remaking Conker, we should see a remake of it.

I couldnt even play Jet Force Gemini due to that extremely choppy framerate. The perfect dark series was good on the N64 with a good FPS (except the co-op mode being super choppy)

The new pictures of Joanna Dark look godawful though. I hate that retarded wannabe anime look. Her wrists look like twigs, and If they keep that whole image for the game, im sure it will fail. I remember when the best perfect dark site closed down after those shots were released saying it was a travesty.

I agree, loved Rc Pro Am back in the day and Goldeneye will always be a favorite but I haven't played anything else by them that would convince me that Microsoft made a good move buying them. I knew that was bad the second it was announced and Ghost for Ghoulies hasn't made me change my mind .

All I know is that there are very few games that I will buy at retail price on release day, i.e Halo 2. However, Conker may be one of those titles simply to show my support. The N64 rocked and I love the on-line idea for conker on the Xbox. I'll see you on Xbox live! Nothing sounds as good as a fowl mouth rodent with a grenade launcher to blow your head off.

How could you not like Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie?

I agree with everything, minus the Kameo statement. Rare gets credit for being so great, but what have they really done that was top notch? I liked Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, RC Pro Am back in the day, and Conker's BFD. That's about it. Jet Force Gemini I hated, Donkey Kong Country (and sequels, and 64) I found boring, as well as Banjo. They get a lot of credit because Goldeneye was one of the system selling N64 games, but what have they done since the N64? Star Fox Adventures? It was OK, but nothing that great. Grabbed by the Ghoulies? Not worth my time. And now Conker: Live and Reloaded just looks like a waste, IMO. As much as it's being touted of having such great graphics...who cares. The single player game, while not a direct port, is 100% identicle to the N64 version. And the multiplayer sucked for the 64, so I don't have much hope of the XB Live features being worthwhile.

Easily

DKC1&2, Goldeneye, and the KI series are the only games Rare has done that I have enjoyed.

Conker was decent, but featured the tried and true collect a thon formula.

I do think Kameo looks interesting, but has lost a lot of luster after close to 3 years of waiting

Whats with all the hate towards Conkers Multiplayer. That game, along with Goldeneye, occupied much of my college time. It is still one of the best multiplayer games IMO.

I never played the sequel, but I feel BK was the predecessor to the major problems with DK64. It was full of mindless, tedious collecting that resulted in very little payoff. It was incredibly fun at first, but it was so repetitive and I found it to get boring after a short while. You could only go so long before Jingos made you completely insane.

Free Radical are the people that worked on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark games but left to form their own company.

Only 4 or 5 people working at Free Radical actually worked on Goldeneye and/or Perfect Dark, but they are high ups in the company, and there influence is seen in Timesplitters.

I guess I can agree on the collecting thing. However I really feel that you should give the sequel a try, it is much better. It has a lot more varied gameplay and transformations to keep it from getting boring.
I can also agree on the DK64 thing. It really disappointed me :(
