What I raided from EB Games...

I just got back from an EB Games near where I live; I ended up selling the employee there a 1 gb Sandisk memory stick for $80 so he'd let me buy the games he had been holding (cheap for him but it was one of the ones I got from Staples for $70 so I didn't lose much). Weird thing is that the employee discount actually stacked on the promotions + EDGE discount...which usually doesn't happen. Anyway, here's what I've picked up so far (prices after employee discount +GMR +promotion):

DC - Street Fighter 3 (complete, mint) - $15.29
DC - Last Blade 2 (complete, mint) - $19.12
DC - Capcom vs. SNK (complete, mint) - $0.00
SNES - Chrono Trigger (cart only, in very good shape) - $13.59
SNES - Final Fantasy 3 (cart only, in decent shape) - #11.89
SNES - Super Metroid (cart only, in very good shape) - $10.19
...+ 8.75% tax
= $76.21

They also had Marvel vs. Capcom for Dreamcast but seeing that I already have the import version, I decided it wasn't worth getting.

This is what I have on hold (well, hiding from my manager actually so he doesn't kill me for holding games that were supposed to be shipped out) at the EB Games I work at that I'm gonna pick up tonight:

N64 - Harvest Moon (complete)
N64 - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (complete)
N64 - Starcraft (cart only)
N64 - Mario Kart (complete)
N64 - Super Mario 64 (complete)
N64 - Super Smash Brothers Melee (complete)
+ B2G1 free promo + 15% off + 10% off

I am so broke it's not even funny...

You know, when you die you cant take your money with you. Consider your current brokeness preparing for that early.

And good score by the way.

except tax is 9.75% here

My word. Isnt there a law against cruel and unusual punishment?

Makes me appriciate my 4.5% here.
Always worked when I did it..

That sucks. It's 8.25% where I live. I just round up to 9 cents when I'm trying to calculate tax on something.

You'd think. We're the only county (that I know of) in the state of TN that has 9.75% tax. They promised to lower it back to 9 and a quarter in Jan. 2003 or 2004, can't remember which, but they never did.

New games, after tax, cost $54.86. It's crazy.
Which EB had that stuff? The one on telegraph?
Shattuck. Telegraph doesn't have anything in the way of classic games unless you count their few N64 and Genesis games. The only complete N64 games they have are like Wheel of Fortune, hehe. I work at the Rockridge store.

wow bay area folks
i guess you guys were the ones i was competing against to get the cc sales a couple of weeks ago which sux since i only got 1 game out of 4 i wanted

So you caved and sold him the memory stick? Ah well ^_^ You got some awesome deals! I hope you're able to get the N64 games as well!

Where do you live? I assumed that my 6% sales tax was on the low end, what with the ludicrous NY sales tax right across the state line.

Richmond Virginia my friend.

I think we go up to 5% soon but as a trade off our food tax drops to 2%.

Jesus heck!
Street Fighter III for $15? Was it Third Strike or Double Impact?
And congrats on Last Blade 2. I was a dumb kid....I had that game once, got rid of it, and only then realized how awesome it was.

Well, keep in mind for just about any state BUT California, the taxation evens out.

While I pay low sales tax, property and other assorted taxes are much higher.

As is always said, the government is going to get their money from you one way or another. For the young, no or low sales tax is great because its the only tax you run into. For us older people we get slammed just about every way possible.
Sheesh, over 9% sales tax? I'm sick of the 6% we pay here. I'd soil myself if I had to pay almost 10% sales tax.
I'm with you, but let's both hope it never comes to that. 5% sales tax here. Anything higher than that is just plain wrong.

Christ Scorch I feel bad for you, I thought the 8.65 here was alot!!!

Wow, I'll stop complaining about the 8.75% tax around here them, hehe.

Yeah, I cave in and sold him the memory stick; couldn't resist getting Chrono Trigger for that cheap.

This is the second time I've been able to take advantage of a sale at a game store (first time was the 75% off pre-played PC games sale...scored around 300 bucks worth of stuff for about 70 bucks). Now I can stop feeling so jealous of those who live near gamerushes, hehe.

I like the rockridge store. The shattuck one always has n00bs chatting with the employees about games being "tight" and such. They do have more old games than the telegraph one though.
