I'm going to start streaming my media to the PS3 and I wanted to know what all of your experiences were with media servers. Which do you recommend? Is tversity better than twonkyvision or vice versa? Are there others that are as good or better? Will any of them let me stream Divx and xvid files? Is one more stable than the other?

tversity is free. does divx and xvid, basically anything your computer plays. It also does podcasts/rss, so you can watch the 1up show, Webb Alert, X-Play, etc on your ps3.

I have not used twonky... is it free?

No, I think twonkyvision costs about $40 but several people around here have reccmmended it.

It looks like tversity's got a lot of things covered. Are there any downsides to it?

Cant beat TVersity, its FREE! Streams everything, why dont you try TVersity yourself and see if its to your liking, if not then you can drop $40 and get twonkyvision.

Make sure to install the CCP with Tversity (Community Codec Pack).

I have had tversity crash a couple times, in the 4 months I have been using. The PS3 also shows 42 min shows, as being 32 mins long, but they play fine. The progress indicator is just out of whack.

Other than that it has been great.
The only I wish it had is unix support.
