What's the best MP3 player around?

Do you want to be able to play video?

Do you care how physically large it is?

WMA Protected formats? iTunes/Real etc.

How long do you need it to last battery-wise?

How much space do you want minimum?

I love my Creative Vision M.

iPods I could never buy as the lack of FM kills me as I use my MP3 players for radio fairly often.

No. I thought watching vids on it would be a big deal on my old iPod, but then I never ended up really using the format.

Not really, long as it's protable.

Rather it can use any format the iPod does

About the same battery length as an iPod

At least 8-16 GB

Thank you, I'll keep an eye out for one.

Every time I see one of these threads I recommend the Sony Walkman. By far the best sound quality I've ever heard from an mp3 player. Good battery life as well.
Creative Zen m here as well. Amazing screen 30gb or 60gb and 10+ hours easy ont he battery.

DRM free player.
I'm sold. I'll definitely try and pick one up real soon. Any sites out there got it for a decent price?

And another quick question, can I dump the stuff I bought off iTunes on it?

Yes it plays AAC or whatever comes from Itunes. The battery life is actually longer then 10 hours.

Hit up epizenter.com for a decent set of forums and the creative site will get the refurbed ones in from time to time just over $100.

I picked mine up on a discount website and it was like new. I think I paid $125 shipped or some crazy amount.

The screen is awesome I have a few things stored on it to show it off, but have not taken the time to transfer any full movies to it.

I had the same needs as you and I looked at the Creative Zen and Cowon D2 for a long time. I went with the D2 since it supports more file formats, linux support, and SDHC support for up to 32GB of added storage.

anythingbutipod.com was an invaluable resource.
