I actually found out the game is happening while at Target. I was passing by the magazine section, when I saw the new September GamePro, with Alice sitting pretty on the cover. There was a pretty big section for the game, which is impressive in it's own right, but even moreso when you consider the issue seemed very thin. Not sure if Gamepro just downsized their print mag, or it was just a slow news time...Anyway, I didn't pick it up due to lack of funds, but I should get it later in the week.

There is a interview on Wired.com, with American McGee and RJ Berg (story writer) that discusses a bit of the game.

Coming back now to the story in Madness Returns, we’re once again focused on these things: really good story, solid third-person platforming gameplay, adventure, action, exploration and puzzle solving.

We are trying to seek common horror — not that it’s simple or expected, but instead of being that in-your-face cliché horror, we’re trying to go for a much more psychological, deep, disturbing horror.

We also have an interview over at G4 and another one in video form at Gamespot!

I was and still am a huge fan of the original Alice....I have some of the figures that went along with the game. I bought them from media play (god how I miss thee). I have Alice, Madhatter, The White Rabbit, and the biggest of them all, The Jabberwock =) ... I know I am certainly very excited for this one.

From the original trailer I wish this had been an adult (no, not that kind) animated movie.

I tried the game and it was OK.

I played some of the first one when a coworker of mine let me barrow their copy. I had it only for a week or so and at the time with working 2 jobs and school didn't have much time to play it. I really have wanted to play it but the damn game just costs to much now. For a used copy it is 60 bucks or more on amazon.com and eBay isn't much different. Maybe when 2 comes out they will have a deal out for the first one and rerelease it.

If your were a fan of McGee's you wouldn't had missed the Comic Con announcement. :p I'm not that dude's fan but I am a fan of Alice and can't wait for the sequel.

This game looks quite promising. Will obviously wait to see what the gameplay mechanics are and if it'll be worth the purchase day 1 or a few months down the road.

Sweet. I bought the original at release for the PC. Never got through it but I have that problem with a lot of games. loaned it to a friend and he had it stolen. This was years ago... I still had the box though and sold the big box for like $20 on ebay 4 months or so ago back.

If they don't slaughter this game, then i will be grabbing this one for sure. Alice is one of my favorites, especially in this style of interpretation.

Oh wow, I didn't know the first one was so expensive.... The jewel case version is $34 used, if thats any better. Makes me happy that I got a copy before the price hikes.

Anyway, does anyone think if this sells well, that we could maybe see the Oz game that was rumored for.... well... forever.

It's been years since I played the game. If it's going for that much, it's time to hock it ion FLEABAY and get ready for some more games.

I thought Oz would be a movie and not a game. Hell I also remember reading that Alice was to be made into a movie.

It was stuck in development hell for a long time. Now that Tim Burton has done a gothic-themed Alice movie, you can be sure it's dead for good.

I don't put any stock into hearing about potential video game movies. Seriously, how many were "scheduled" to come out in 2010? Unless I see some kind of promotional materials or stills, I don't believe that a game movie will exist. Then again, they did make posters for the Clock Tower movie, and my hope is fleeting for that one...

I didn't even notice that this thread was in the PS3 forums. I hope the game comes out on the PC as well.

Oh yes, please, everytime over the years I read about McGee cooking something I was hoping for the Oz game but it never happened. :(

Messing up your beautiful childhood books is such a great idea I don't know why more people won't jump on it. So much potential.

Consoles and PCs, but in one of the interviews I saw McGee said that consoles will be the focus this time around.

I'm hoping that the original will be released for XBLA, PSN and Steam so i can replay it. I tried the demo a while ago, but it kept crashing on me because of Windows Vista 64-bit. It would be even better if it was packaged with the sequel for free :)

That is why I'm holding out on even trying to get the first one for a good price. I think if I get it now it will be packed in with 2 however I am also thinking if I don't get it now the price for it will go up. However my wallet is making the answere for me and telling me don't get it now.
