I'm in the market to get a 21.5" LCD 1080p HD monitor to use as both a TV and XBox 360 "play station." ;)

Newegg has two great ASUS monitors that have brilliant contrast ratios displays, which are ton more than any other LCD, I've seen, including Westinghouse.

So, here are the two ASUS monitors I'm considering:

Monitor 1:

Pros:
Killer contrast ratio at 20,000:1
5ms response time

OR

Monitor 2:

Pros:
Respectable contrast ratio at 12,000:1
2ms response time (which is supposed to be GTG not BTB, gray to gray not black to black)

I feel for a small living room, this could easily connect to my Comcast cable box for awesome true 1080p HD and double as an XBox monitor for a cheap price.

What do you guys think?

Those specs are meaningless for comparison. They're all good enough that they're out of trouble areas (i.e. response times at 8 ms or higher and contrast ratios below 5000). I would just read as many reviews as you possibly can.

Well one of them seems to be sold out, so get the other. I agree with the previous poster, they're both be fine monitors/tv. Are you planning on using these for tv/gaming or for your computer?

I missed out on the monitor I really wanted... again. I was very impressed by the 20,000:1 contrast ratio and true HD resolution.

But I'm about to move in two months, so maybe it's just one less electronic piece of equipment to have to bundle along.

I'll keep an eye on it in the future, should it return. Otherwise, I'll keep an eye on this one, which is a few inches bigger and has the same contrast ratio:

I'm looking at finding ways to get true HD in the house without paying $700 - $1K. Getting a monitor that serves a dual purpose as a tv and game station seems like the best option.

I know one of the reviewers said he felt like he was cheating using the ASUS because he could see folks very clearly from far away in Halo 3. I think it'll make a great gaming monitor, but maybe I'll have to hold out a bit longer after my move. It would suck to get free shipping to this address, then have to pay for shipping out of pocket to get it to the new out of state address.

Also, that 2253bw samsung has gotten mixed reviews. If you follow the link above, you'll see where a guy chose ASUS aver a Sammy. I'd want to check out both in person to be sure.
