Among the three RPG games, which one is the best one to get, in terms of stories and gameplay?

Makai kingdom is $29.99 at atlus shop. I saw it for $49.99 at Fry's. I don't see it anywhere cheaper than $30. Phantom Brave and Tsugunai were $19.99 each at Atlus and I think they are the same price outside. I don't see these games sealed in EB or GS. Are they not popular or people don't want them that EB/GS stopped carrying them?

I'm thinking of picking up a RPG game (besides SMT) from Atlus. Since I have no experience with either of these games, I thought I would ask the fine folks here :)
I only played Makai Kingdom but it was pretty damn good. I actually picked it up at a Game Crazy for $13.
its $20 new as well, which may actually be easier to find.

Phantom Brave is much better in term of game mechanics. You can vastly upgrade your weapon unlike Makai Kingdom. You can transform items with your ghostly pals and the time limit add some strategy.A much better dungeon crawling and it is easier to lvl up or make a uber char compare to Makai Kingdom.Tons of extras and can get all secret chars in one playthrough. The only down side of Phantom Brave is the story. You either love or hate. The main character is too nice and too much goodie 2 shoe. In Makai Kingdom you get to use a "bad ass overlord ",Zetta. Both are great games.I recommend Phatom Brave over Makai Kingdom.

If you geting Phatom Brave you prolly memorized this quote "Psycho Burgandy" or getting Makai Kingdom "I'm one bad ass overlord"

price drop

I am trying to play these in order but stopped two hours into PB. I really disliked the beginning and am thinking of just skipping to Makai

Are there different editions of Phantom Brave? I heard about a Limited Edition or Special Edition having a bonus soundtrack CD. If so, how do you tell the difference from outside the packaging?

The version of Phantom Brave with the bonus soundtrack CD has a Compact Disc logo on the back of the case to the left of the DVD logo. :)

I've already got phantom brave and am (sort of) enjoying it. I'm only 3-5 hours in. How much should I pay for Makai Kingdom, Disgaea, or La Pucelle? Which is best?
Thanks.

La Pucelle should be under $20 used. Its good, (Im playing it now, but like others have said, can be slow compared to the later games. There are some long, unskippable cutscenes, and the battles themselves can be slow. But that doesnt mean boring.

Disgaea is one of the best games Ive ever played. I have over 130 hours on my save, and Ive just begun to scratch the surface of that game. Great, funny story, memorable characters, incredible gameplay. Around $35-40 used I think.

I havent played Makai yet, but I have it. Ive read and heard that its alot like Disgaea only without much story. Still worth a pickup tho. You should be able to pick this one up for around $25.

la pucelle is 18 at gc
makai is 20

a few bucks less used but i doubt youd findem used
phantom brave is also 18 or 20 new there

i remember skipping school just to play disgaea...have over 100 hours on that too. I played PB but didnt really get into it much, i dropped it after few hours after seeing the trailer for makai kingdom. robot riding? count me in.
