i've been wanting to buy the dvd for the movie "battle royale", and i finally decided to throw down and just get it. now, the problem is that there are two versions available, and i'm not sure which one to get. i've found a few websites and the information they give contradicts each other, so i figured that someone here may know which version is better. basically, what i'm concerned with is the quality of the print and the quality of the translation, not so much with extra features.

here are links to the two versions:

-single disc-

(note: i'm not sure if i would actually get one from ebay, i mainly just provided the links for easy reference to what was talking about)

if anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it. thanks.

I like the two DVD set because the case looks pretty cool. I always tend to go for collector's editions because they usually have more content.

^^its cool, i'll keep it. it works fine and all, except that the subtitles are just a TAD bit too big, and they sorta..blend in with each other? like, they're too close to one another, so it looks blurry.
make sure you don't get a bootleg..i did.
anyways, heres a site to check if its bootlegged or not:
http://www.battleroyalefilm.net/video/db3.html
and i'd go with the 2 disc set also.
i've been looking at the site for a while now, trying to figure it out. the problem is what they said about the poor translation, which makes me sad. they have a single disc version on the site that looks really good, but it says it's out of print.

they need to just have a widespread release here.

you may have seen it already but IGN did a comparison of the 2 versions a while back...

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/449/449222p1.html

the bonus features don't amount to much if you don't speak the language as they aren't subbed in english...
otherwise I believe they came to the conclusion that the original version has the better video and audio but that the special edition had some additional scenes thrown into the film that gave it some nice backstory...

yeah, the special edition one added some extra scenes into the movie. 10 minutes worth i think. although you could live without it, it'd be nice to see those. basically they're just flashbacks/memories of certain characters.

yeah, i'm not really concerned with the extra scenes or the special features so much as just the quality of the print and translation. from the looks of it, i'm going to wait and see if i can get a copy of the tartan release.
Thats really wierd becuase I purchased the second auction a couple days ago.
it would be really cool if you let me know how it is when you get it. like if it's real or a bootleg, how good it is and whatnot.
