So I just went and turned my Xbox on. I signed on to Xbox Live and Receive the message "In accordance with Xbox Live policy, the gametag Pimpinc333 is no longer allowed. Please change your gamertag before playign on Xbox Live."

What kind of BS is this? My Gametag has been the same for over 3 years of me having Xbox Live. Is anyone else being forced to change there name? This is pretty lame if you ask me.

Wow, that seriously sucks. So are they making you pay 10 bucks to change your name? Or are they going to make buy live all over again and make another account?

Well it seems they are going to change my name for free but if I do change it i'm not sure what I would even change it to. I used this name for everything online since I was a wee child. Man this blows.

If anyone wants to help give me ideas for a new gamertag that would be swell also :D Thanks!

I have been hearing this alot lately. Alot of people say they have been getting warned about the little sayings they have in their profile. I guess it must be completly random. (IE. someone just scanning names and deciding that yours is not allowed) because my buddy's gamertag is Asscheeks17. We have a bet going as to how long it will take them to make him change his.

Personally though, I don't think yours was that bad.

Good to see I can still get called "nigger" in any given XBL game like the people saying it are earning $100 each time they do, and MS' moral response is to focus on gamertags with "pimp" in them.

At least "pimp" is a profession, y'know? Inform us if they're going to make you pay the $10 to change it.

Wow. xbox is stupid. They spelled playing wrong. Figures. Multi billion dollar corporation and can't get one word right lol.

A friend of mine as well got banned for it as well, they changed his name for free, wasnt a big deal. Just change it and itll be ok. If you call you get it done for free.

A freind of mine had to change his name 3 times in 3 days and there wanst even anything wrong with one of them as it only had a different number than the one has currently has now. It seems they are all getting hell bent on gamertags all of a sudden.
Change it to Pumpinc333.
I'm gonna take it one step further: PumpkinInc333

Casey's got a good idea though. Brak'll have something good.
Alright, what is the meaning of this? I've seen it used before, but have no bloody idea.
It is from Chad Daddy.

I'll get with Brak. I'm curious to see if I re put in Pimpinc333 if they will allow me to get away with it again for a bit. As long as they are letting me change it for free i'm gonna test what they will allow :)
I wouldn't risk it, they might just ban it forever and not let you change it. It would be funny if they just let it slide by though.

yeah that doesn't seem too out of the ordinary right now since microsoft really cracked down on the whole filter thing lately. I was changing my motto last night and it seems like you can no longer say hate or gay or anything of that nature.

Might be interesting to see just how ambiguous XBL is going to get with Gamertags.

I'd suggest the following:

WomanConnoisseur
LadyWaresForSale
LadiesForSale
WheresMyMoneyBeetch
LadyHandler
CertifiedLadyHandler
Change it to Pumpinc333.
I was going to suggest the same thing.

Or you could change it to 333cnipmip.

I have a friend who's gamertag was Baby Eater16. Needless to say he had to change it a few weeks ago.
It might be a good thing, since he told me that sometimes people would kick him out of games because of his gamertag.

It's now off the charts when it comes to Microsoft's censor filter touchiness. This seems bad enough, but a few weeks ago (when I had a working console), after a particularly tragic collapse by a certain cursed American League baseball team in a certain penultimate playoff series, I wanted to change my Gamer Motto (in conjunction with my Gamerpic of said team's controversial mascot) to "Why, God, Why??" Long story truncated somewhat, I had to settle for "Why, Lord, Why??" Because, you know, a "lord" can be the 'land' kind or the Sith kind, or--horror of horrors!!--the dancing kind. But not necessarily the spirituality-implying kind.

If Bungie can call Halo Whatever testing "Pimps at Sea" on Live, you should be able to have your gamertag. What they should really be banning are 'tags solely derived of beyond-tired pot references. You're real fucking counterculture rebels, guys!

That was painfully funny! LOL!

Yeah my buddy who has had his name about as long if not longer than you had yours recently had to change his. His deal was a little more understandable however as his name was CAPT SCHLONGO . The term "pimp" seems a bit innocuous if you ask me and I'm suprised they'd make you change your name because of that.

Well you could send it to the usual pseudo-news "blog" sites, they'll put up almost anything. I don't know how much that is going to accomplish aside from people mocking Microsoft's idiocy in this case, but...hey, it's something.

I don't have a problem with MS banning certain gamertags, mainly because most of the phrases they're blocking are so played out anyhow. It was funny the first 1000 times I saw a gamertag with "pimp" in it, but now it's old.
They'd better not ban my tag or i'll give 'em hell.
why would they ban Gargoyle?
