anyone else have this happen? In the past, all of the stuff I got from eb was sent via usps, but lately it has been coming Fed-Ex. This kinda sucks, because I'm never home and they can't leave it in the mailbox and I don't want someone to steal my stuff as it just sitting outside...

Last 2 times I ordered from them, thats how it shipped, I ended up having to drive out to the airport to pick it up myself once, now i just get it shipped to work

EB ships different carriers depending on your area so they must have switched contracts on you. Do you have a screen door or something they can slide stuff in? FedEx has regional delivery divisions so your service may be different but the guys around here will go through great lengths to hide things if you leave a really nice note.

if this continues, my days of shopping at ebgames online are over... Stupid fed-ex driver doesn't want to get out of the truck because of my dog, So this means that the bastard can't even leave the damn package at my house... I will have to drive 40 min., just to pick up my damn games... If anyone from eb reads these forums, then DROP FED-EX, either go usps or ups, I have never had a problem getting packages via ups or usps.

Same here...Brothers in Arms just came via USPS. Although they used to send it via FedEx a couple years ago, I think like somebody else just mentioned it depends on whatever contract them have in that area. Has never really made a difference to me though so long as it gets here on time and in one peice I'm happy.

Same exact thing happened to me. I ordered gradius III for $1.49 using saver as my shipping method. They sent my package out Fedex 2 day air for free. Confusing indeed.

This seems to imply you think the USPS is better than UPS? :whistle2:k

Who would be responsible if they left a package on the door and it got stolen? I live in a apartment and the damn dhl guy always leave it right next to my door. Anybody could just walk up and steal it.

USPS has been taking 6-8 days for first class mail recently.

UPS does not come to my house until 7 PM because the location is right up the street.

Fed-Ex shows up around 12 and the location is right up the street.

They should stick with Fed Ex IMO

For price, the USPS is better. For service & tracking, uh, no.

That would be your issue, since if they can't hand it to you and it doesn't require a signature, they can leave it at your door and they're not at fault.

Ask them to leave the package at your apartment complex management office (assuming there is one) and pick it up from there.

Shipping rates just changed. At work, I just had to inform my clients that all rates have risen, UPS the most. Perhaps EB has similar issues and are opting for the cheaper option to circumvent rising shipper costs.

That's incorrect. It'd be the fault of UPS. If the item is stolen (UPS left a $200 package from AMAZON around Christmas at my door and it was stolen, I contacted AMAZON informing them that I never received the package and they quickly replaced it), UPS tends to eat the cost, especially from regular users.

It's not the fault of the CONSUMER that a package was left at their door unattended, but the fault of the shipping company.

This also might explain the rising costs.

I used to work at UPS and couldn't believe how they handled the packages that went through Charlotte.

Quick Tip: Don't ever write "Fragile, Don't even think about it!!" on a package.

They used it as a football for about ten minutes before putting it on the truck.

Sheesh. USPS first and then FedEX as a last resort I guess.

As for businesses shipping to you, I just found out about FedEX's policy of leaving things at your house.

Had to pick up my order from NewEgg.com out by the airport myself.

I'm pretty sure UPS and FedEx have a corporate policy that you have to sign off for them to leave stuff at your door before they will just leave it. Not sure on DHL, but I bet they have a similar policy.

Not sure if they always follow that or not.

UPS has left stuff on my doorstep since I moved to my current spot. I assumed that's because a previous resident signed off on this, but I really don't know. We did get a shipment of wine labeled 'Over 21 only, ask for ID. Do not leave at door.' And (yup) it was just left at the door. So my local UPS may just leave everything and not worry about it. That's generally fine with me.

I've only gotten one thing FedEx since I've lived here. They left a tag on the door which I could sign to allow them to just leave it on the door on their next attempt. And I could instruct them to leave all future packages or just that specific one.

I'm pretty surprised about the number of people who prefer USPS to FedEx or UPS. Their tracking, gauranteed delivery dates, and automatic insurance are great in my book.

They just shipped out my order through USPS. So far, all of my EBgames.com orders have been sent through USPS, so I guess people in the Northern Virginia area can count on getting their orders through USPS.
I just got a 4.03 N64 game Fedexed, no one was home so they gave it to the neighbors.
That do stupid stuff like that a lot it seems. My neighbors are friends so they give me everything (I think....), but I'm not sure who would be responsible if they didn't. Hopefully you'd get your money back but you never know.

Haven't had too much trouble with Fedex -- did have some issues with UPS a few times, though.

Worst was when I had a package that required signature confirmation -- someone was home throughout the entire day, but they didn't seem to make any effort to knock or ring the doorbell.

Wound up finding the package later than night lying on the floor in the garage (the door had only been open a few hours during the day). Not exactly the best place to leave a small cardboard box, considering that recyclables weren't stacked all that far away.

Best part was when we looked online at the delivery status and saw "Signed For By: DRIVER". If the driver can sign for the package, then whats the point of delivery confirmation?!?

I do think USPS is better, but what Casey said is true; they are fucking slow lately with First Class. It takes about the same time as media mail. Proof: I sent two packages to California the same day, one was 1st class, one was media mail. Both arrived the same day. WTF???

And UPS comes 7PM or later for me too. FedEx sucks solely because they need a signature and won't leave it without it (unless you miss them and leave the door hanger thingie on your door the next day with your sig); I think this is a good idea for an urban-type area with a higher theft rate, but not the pleasantville-type place I live in. It is a pain in the ass for me.

The PO has always been friendly whenever I leave off packages. Except for the new policy they seem for have for first class, they are awesome and quick.

My last order from EB came FedEx...it was only for my Dreamcast VMU so I just figured since I only bought the VMU that's why it was shipped FedEx. I, too, hate fedex. They won't leave packages and I missed them the first time they tried to deliver it.

Hope this doesn't become regular practice.

drove 30 min to pick up my package before it was sent back and it was a $4.00 n64 game (nba on nbc)
my last 5 orders have been fedexed, this is the second one that was a single game...
