Why is my PS4 remote play broken?

I've used Remote Play a handful of times on my Vita with my PS4 since launch. It's always been close to the system, worked quickly, and worked well.

Yesterday, I tried it and it's totally broken. The Vita takes forever to connect to the PS4 and had to "check internet" for the connection. Once it did connect there was tremendous lag and it disconnected itself in seconds.

I've restarted the Vita, PS4, and this has happened over 2 days now. I've checked that "connect directly to Vita" is checked in the PS4 settings. I even turned off wifi on Vita so it wouldn't possibly connect via Internet and it refused to try. I literally set the Vita on top of the PS4 as a joke and it wouldn't connect directly. Something is really wrong.

I reset the PS4 Link app on Vita and it couldn't even find the PS4 to resync, either with wifi on or off. With it off it doesn't even try to find the PS4 locally. It just gives a failed error message.

Any ideas of what I could do? This is totally bizarre. Thanks in advance.

One thing I have read is make sure 'Use Wi-fi Power Save Mode' is not checked in Settings > Power Save Settings.

I was also having issues the other day.  My vita kept trying to connect to my bf's ps4 instead on mine, even tho I had it registered to mine before.  It was like it couldn't see mine.  For me tho, it was an easy fix of going into remote play settings on my ps4 and manually adding my vita as a device to get them to see each other again.

Okay, tried them and no difference at all. It only even connects to the PS4 maybe one in four times and then freezes and loses the connection within 30 seconds. So frustrated with this garbage. This is connected directly and 3 feet away from the console.

Remote Play was a big reason I got PS4. It used to work fine and I have made no changes. What the heck?

Did you turn off and on your WiFi or use lan to the ps4 and not use WiFi or restart your modem box

Supposedly there's an update coming from Sony to address network/wifi issues with the new 2.50 update.

No timetable other than "soon", but hopefully it address the remote play issues.
