Why not to use Ontrac (Amazon)

I don’t know what’s wrong with these people, it’s like they are smoking crack whilst making deliveries or something.

Last week I ordered a few Filco keyboards off of Amazon. I had one to be delivered to my office, one to be delivered to my home. Ontrac batted 0 for 2, it’s like a bad joke. Guess I just have the worst luck/bad effin week.

Here’s what happened for shipment #1 to the office – Filco Tenkeyless Brown keyboard

Slated to be delivered on Thursday. Well it never came. I called late in the day asking WTH was going on. Apparently the driver got a flat and couldn’t make it. OK flats happen. Friday rolls around. A neighboring business is bringing the package to me, looks like it was delivered TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. Had the neighbor not been kind enough to bring it over I definitely would have been screwed. Glad to have gotten the package. The address was clearly labeled as my office address by the way. No typo.

Here’s what happened for shipment #2 – Filco Tenkeyless Blue keyboard

Long story short I ordered this one Friday afternoon and decided what the hell Ontrac can’t possibly screw up again. The blue board was slated to be delivered today. Well it too never came. Status at around 8pm was still out for delivery. I check back a few minutes ago and notice it says it was delivered to F DOOR at 7:06pm. Well both I and my roommate have been home all freaking day, I’ve been watching the door like a hawk and they sure as hell never came by. I got on Amazon chat and the rep (outsourced) had some nice copy and paste chat with me and will hopefully be sending a refund.

Of course Amazon’s sold out of Filcos now so there’s no way I can order another one.
I’m off to go type on my newly acquired broken Model M now.

tl;dr

OnTrac is a piece of garbage. Don’t ship through OnTrac, PAY a premium for another form of shipping if/when possible.

I've never had a problem with Ontrac. Except for the fact that they look shady in their white van just stopping and leaving the item. My problem is that they leave the item and don't knock on the door or anything. I have to guess when they might come and keep checking.

Ontrac almost ruined my 3DS. When they delivered it, they never knocked or anything and they didn't leave it on my front porch. Instead, they decided to hide it in a freakin' bush. Now, I appreciate that they didn't want someone to take the package, but they could've hidden it behind one of the brick columns on my porch like everyone else does. I didn't even know the package had arrived until I went on Amazon to track the shipping. When I saw it listed as Delivered, I went outside (around 4 AM) with a flashlight and found the wet box (we have a lot of moisture in the air this time of year). My 3DS was covered in moisture and the screens were fogged up, but thankfully it somehow wasn't damaged.

Not only do they not knock... they leave the package wide open in plain view on my front door. My front porch clearly has some space hidden behind columns that UPS, Fedex, even the mail man uses to hide packages. But not the lazy ass ONTRAC guy. Unfortunately, you have no choice when ordering through Amazon using PRIME.

All my packages through amazon prime come are delivered by UPS. I have never even heard of Ontrac until this thread.

Most of my packages come through UPS, but I think they use Ontrac for expensive and/or speedy deliveries. I just got free Prime through Amazon Mom (available for dads too!) and my package today arrived via Ontrac.

That too. I saw it once in the middle of the porch like if they measure where the exact center of my porch was and placed it there. They could have placed it behind the plants on my porch like UPS or Fedex does.
