I bought a Xbox Eclipse controller on 7/14/05 used it two or three times since then and it worked fine, today I go to use it and the right analog stick is dead. I still have the receipt but not the packaging, all I want to do is return it for a new one, do you think they will let me or should i not waste my time. I tried calling over there and they keep putting me on hold, and then the phone hangs up, so calling there is not a valid option.

Without packaging, you may have to buy a new one and swap em... Normally, I wouldn't suggest it, but its only been like a week since you got it and you do have the receipt

I hate the plastic clamshell packaging. You have to destroy it to open it. I douby it eco-friendly, either.

As much of a pain-in-the-ass it is, always save the packaging. The rule is: Something will break as soon as you throw the packaging away.

I used to work for Wal-mart. Bring in the receipt (that's the important thing) and controller. They should let you exchange it, unless you get a dumbass who doesn't follow policy. In that case ask for a manager.

If they won't do it, buy another one and return the bad one.

Yes, those controller have some of the hardest to open packages ever!

You usually have 90 days to return such items, but without a original box and contents the might not accept a return or swap. My Dad used to be Department Manager at Wal-Mart, and on returning items I've heard say it depends on the person and not policy whether they will return it without the original packaging.

I've done the old break a controller way after 90 days, then go by the same controller, (sometimes cheaper, lol) open the box neatly with a razor'box cutter, put the old controller in the box and return it the next day and ask for a $$$ refund.

Hell, those controllers are usually like $20-35, and they should put a 2 year warrantee on them anyway.

Yeah, because that's honest.

Wal-Mart's usually pretty good about tryurns, you should be able to do it with just the receipt.

I worked at walmart also...we took cds without the case in a plastic bag. Just take it in. be nice. and they should just put a claims tag on it and tell you to go get a new one

What do you do to your controllers that makes them break so quickly? The only controller I've owned that's in need of replacement is a SNES one which I used for ungodly amounts of time on my SNES then used it on my computer after I made a little parallel port adapter. All of my PSX/PS2 controllers are perfectly fine, as are my NES and Genesis.

Do you people throw your controllers? :(

when i first got my PS1 (around 96-7).. i also bought a second Dual Shock (so i guess. .more like 97-98) but anyways.. i used that one so much that it started to fall apart.. so.. sometimes you jsut get ones that aren't quite quality (and that was a first party controller BTW , i only get First party heh..) but yeah.. WM will take anything (if you don't have a reciept you'll get a gift card.
