Wind Waker Link Bobblehead?

I'm not sure where exactly to put this post, so I figured I'd try here:

Okay, so an aquaintance of mine came into the college the other day and was giving stuff off, and I just so happened to snatch up this Link bobblehead...it's obviously from Wind Waker, but I've got a few questions. Where exactly did this item originate from? Was it for a promotion, did you get it with a preorder, what exactly? Second question; am I rich now because I picked up this gem? ;D

Any help on solving this mystery would be greatly appreciated. =D

Can't be; just checked on Ebay and a guy has the same item, saying that it was a promo and that only "200 of them were made." I'm not exactly sure about that, but I know it's definitely an official item. Just don't know where it came from. x.x;
 
i remember they gave at least 1 to those IGN fools, I preordered mine and got a game, though I loved Waker so it was good enough for me.
 
It wasnt a preorder bonus at all. It was given out to a limited number of retailers actually.

I like zelda but am not a zelda nut and know this. I specifically remember trying to get one from a local meijer retailer.... A few of the guys/gals on this board managed to snag them up from retailers but they were more limited then say the bonus disk..

If a store had been giving those out for preorder and I had known I would have made sure my preorder was from that store... So no I dont believe it was a preorder bonus at all.
 
My wife was an assistant manager at Gamestop at the time Wind Waker came out, I know that her store received only one which I now have. It wasn't a preorder bonus there it was just to be used for promotional purposes in store.
 
TAKEN FROM A HIGHER SOURCE THAN MY OWN !

He was given away with the Nintendo Power Zelda pack which included the Master Quest bonus disk, The Wind Waker and a years subscription to Nintendo Power.
 
They were given to stores to promote the game, somewhat similar to the Conker Plush inside the tank (I want one of those). The Link bobblehead is on ebay quite frequently and usually ends at $30. There is one in ebay completed items right now where the buyer tried to charge $50 for it, but obviously no-one bit on it. There are also two currently on ebay in active items.

Wrong. I subscribed to that godawful magazine for a year so I could get that bonus disc and I don't recall anyone back then ever mentioning getting a bobblehead as well (I know I didn't).

This was also if you purchased Wind Waker from them. You're thinking of a different disk - he said Master Quest. Two different promotions.
