Wireless internet and gaming

Ok, we can finally get broadband at my house, but it's wireless instead of DSL. Reading about wireless made me think that it's very similar to satellite, which blows for gaming. My question is, will I have any lag issues while playing online games with a wireless connection?

It really depends on what game.

I used to use a wireless USB dongle to grab a wireless DSL signal from my router in my room to play guild wars--and it ran perfect. However, when I started playing battlefield 2, it lagged horribly until I found a wired solution.
