That is not really news.
I am pretty sure that there is many animals we wiped out starting with the Doduo which is pretty much a turkey proclaiming the doduo killed itself and how it was around since prehistoric times is false when we pretty much killed them off prefering them over turkeys.
However in Austriallia they also discovered a sea mount with various new species. The thing is Austrialla was more modivated on living then discovering ever single animal in there world.
Lets not forget about the forest slyphs that we wiped out in South America and Africa and the Rive Dolphin in China.
Then poor Silk from cotton 100% that was found in europe and lets not forget the billions of plant species that could cure aids and give imortalitiy to a fat person.
Another suggestion might lead that the Giant Wombat was a regular Wombat and was just really big or Wombats evil twin killed the real Wombat and shape his bones to look like a giant Wombat like archaeologists shape dragon bones to make them look like dinosaur bones.
