Thats a shameful prank to pull on your child and to keep filming as his childhood dreams are slowly taken away from him. What gets to me is when the parents leave the room and the older brother is filming the tragedy, how would you react if this happened to you?

I'm not sure which is worse, the parents' bait and switch or the red ring of death after actually paying $300 for a 360.

I thought they were joking until the end... boy that kids gonna be scarred for life over that. Not something you'll forget either. Whats the chances that he's gonna end up doing whatever he has to, to find get one?

Why would you play with your own child's emotions like that on Christmas day? This might be something you do to your friend, but this is not something parents should do.

It says he got the system in the info box.

Oddly enough, I stumbled across this video the other day while randomly browsing Youtube, it usually doesn't happen that way.

It does also say that that he was going to put up the video of him with the system, but its been awhile and he the guy hasn't posted up the video yet. Oh and as the source says, engadget was going to get the boy a system. Wonder how this will play out.

Read what it says people:

"Added: December 31, 2007
My mom decides to buy my brother an Xbox 360 for christmas. We leave that night and return the next morning to find he has sneaked a look....just as my mom thought he would, this is the result...and yes he did get the game i will try to post the second video."

thats fine and all, but it's still a really shitty thing to do to a kid.

It's like wiping shit on someones face while they sleep. Sure they wake up, and wash it off their face...but you know what...they still had shit wiped on their face.

Oh please the little brat will get over it.

Yep. These are the worst parents of all time. Not the ones that killed their kid because she was interrupting their World of Warcraft playing with silly needs like eating.

This was pretty funny, and the kid got his Xbox. I was actually going to put the DS I got for my little brother in the very bottom of a Wii box (I got a Wii for my family this year, anyway), but laziness intervened.

At least he didn't get a Sega Saturn.

Apparently Engadget spoke to his parents and he didn't get a 360 afterward, his brother was BS'ing. I'm sure he'll get one now.

His family probably won't be laughing so hard when he cuts all their throats one night and posts the vid on YouTube.

I did laugh a bit though

My parents did a reversal of this to me when the SNES came out. Had me get up before school started on my birthday (9/9!) and made me open up a box. They kept talking to each other as I was opening it, saying things like "Are you sure you couldn't find the right size?"

So instead of getting clothes, I got an SNES. Hooray!

As for the topic, I saw this on digg and the "facts" as they stand is that the parents never got the kid the 360, but some Engadget's story on it drummed up enough buzz that the kid is most likely getting a big package from MS soon. I imagine there will be a follow up at some point.

Also, while I know the title is meant to be hyperbole, there's many worse examples of parents and kids and video games all intersecting. Slim Gatsby already got on that point though.

I'd laugh if MS actually sends them a 360 and it ends up on eBay.

Regardless, the kid should be thankful he even got anything for Christmas.

He handled it better that I would have.

"As for the topic, I saw this on digg and the "facts" as they stand is that the parents never got the kid the 360"

Okay, that makes this really fucked up. You don't do that to a kid. Damn, that makes me mad.

the prank was meh... but i'm amazed that this topic hasn't moved on to a much more important topic... such as what the fuck is wrong with that kids hair!?!

as a parent myself, i'd like to punch those idiots in the mouth.

some people should not be allowed to have children if thats how they are gonna treat them.

What bothers me the MOST is that they instigate through the whole thing. "Whactchu get?" "Whatchu think it wuz??" "We can't afford an xbox360" said like 7 times.

"Look at the camera and cry" was my favorite.

Nothing wrong with playing jokes on your kids. Shit like this would have been acceptable if he (or she? :whistle2:s ) opened up a box for clothes and it was the Xbox.

The SAD part is, that the kid doesn't act like a spoiled little shit. It's not "WAAAAH!!!! I SAID I WANTED AN XBOX!! AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!" It's just a "..............................................:whistle2:(.................................." aka "..WTF?"

If the kid needed winter clothes, put the fuckin clothes in a regular gift box. There was no need to throw them in a 360 box. Some parents.

Exactly, you 'trick' a kid the other way (so it's good) and make it a surprise not a point and laugh affair. If they really did have a 360 for the kid I would say it wasn't that great of a prank and didn't really come out well, but at least it wasn't completely cruel.

I remember the prank somebody did where they acted like they were breaking their brother's gamecube. "That's what you get" It was mean, but at least that was the guy's brother doing it and not his parents. You expect brothers to be assholes to each other from time to time.

Black on black crime! haha lil kid will grow up and steal peoples shoes!

"Look into the camera and cry" poor lil fella...

There are far worse parents than these...so for those of you who think their the "worst" parents of all time, go watch the news. It is a mean and inappropriate trick, don't get me wrong, but I mean at least he had a Christmas. The trick was just across the line, I'm sure they are fine parents.

Off Topic,

When Halo 2 came out I was still in high school and didn't have my driver's license. My mom drove me to the midnight release, I waited for a few hours playing in tourneys and stuff, then we get home and just as I'm about to pop it into my system...

"Neal honey it's late and you have school in the morning. I'll let you play when you get home.

She knew what she was doing and she loved it! She's a fantastic parent though!

Ehhh...I'm on the fence with this one. IF the info stated on Youtube is true, with the key component being that the kid had snooped and saw the 360 box, then this prank is total fair game (if you really give the kid the 360 afterward of course). In that regard, it's more of an "I hope you learned your lesson" kind of thing.

I'm kind of inclined to believe that that was the case here, considering how they are taunting him with it a bit, and based on his reaction. If the kid DIDN'T have prior knowledge that he was getting a 360, you'd think his reaction when seeing the box would have been more excited. And the same goes for his reaction when seeing the clothes inside. If the gift had truly been a surprise, he would have been more angry than disappointed. He really just looks stupified.

For all we know, when he snooped, he could have seen the serial number through the hole in the box. That would explain his bewilderment. I'm just not buying that the family is that heartless without being provoked.

If that fat bitch didn't have to eat 99 twinkies a day, she could have afforded a 360. Or at least give the kid a hair cut.

Also the look on his face says, "If this is what a family is, I don't want one." I can't believe they had the nerve to get up and leave him crying there and put up the video on youtube.

sure, use logic and ruin it all for everyone :whistle2:$

Even if they thought it would be funny, when they saw the kid start to cry they should have shown remorse for what they did. What a bunch of assholes. I think we should all pitch in 5 bucks and buy the kid a 360:)

True, I actually almosy did this to my brother for Christmas last year. But with a PS3 box.. But my mom said no, that's evil.

Even if I HAD done it, I doubt my parents would be like "NICK! LOOK AT THE CAMERA AND CRY!!!"..

Pft. That kid was an annoying shit head. You gotta bring his ass back to planet Earth. Crazy bitch was talking about some crazy shit

Kid was naughty and snuck a peek early

Parents did this to teach him a lesson

eventually he got the 360.

who cares? Nothing but sensationalistic bullcrap and now stupid bloggers coming in for the "rescue" offering a 360 to the family asking if they ever gave him the 360.... Of course they're going to claim they didn't if they can get another 360 free.

stupid gullible people.

Okay, I watched it without sound (since I'm in a comp lab at school) and this is classic! I couldn't stop laughing. However, it is cruel if they didn't get him one. But as the kid, I would have been more disappointed that they got me an ARCADE system instead of spending the extra 70 bucks and getting a premium.

It took me less than one second to conclusively determine that there was bad parenting afoot - nice fucking haircut tool.

Even if he did get a Xbox, what would he do for games?

While I admit that is a bit of bad parenting to trick him and post the video on YouTube, it's another to get the console for him, probably land in debt, and be stuck with no games. He can't live on demos alone.

Definitely not a case to have loved and lost than to never had loved at all.

My first reaction was that's fucked up .. funny but fuckED up. Especially the fact it is their child, and the fact they allow their other son to tell the kid to look at the camera and cry. That was probably the worst part..

However, when I read on and seen that someone had said he was peeking in his gifts before so the mom put clothes in it and then he got the system later, that is not half as bad.

Funny, but not something I would ever do to a kid of mine ..

Ok seriously, if you're the parents, brother, whoever, keep this shit on your home video. Now they just look like a bunch of jackasses on YouTube, good job.
sure, use logic and ruin it all for everyone :whistle2:$
Hahaha, sorry! It just blows my mind how irate people are getting over this. I know just as well as anybody that humanity is beyond help, but SERIOUSLY...who displays this kind of cruelty to their own kid? It's just a joke.

They probably should have thought about how it would be perceived by the general public (and maybe put a disclaimer in the video), but nobody is this rotten to their own kid just for sport. And if they were, they wouldn't dumb enough to broadcast it on the internet. Anybody seen any good child beatings on Youtube lately? Didn't think so...
