Worth it?

Personally no even without the HDTV these systems sucks balls.

I mean come on folks by the time we invest our money on these systems we will have aged five to ten years. I feel like a hunk of junk after the last five years. No way at all.

Also HDTV do not make anything looks better. Why should it matter. We had Powerful graphics on the N64 why should we care about these new thingama jigs.

I'm not sure really, it seems like a lot of the games out right now are just pretty, and not all that great of games.

I imagine Gears of War being awesome either way though.

Yeah, it is. While HDTV does add to the awesome (GoW in 720p =), its not really necessary at all, except for in a few games, like Dead Rising, where (I've heard) you can't even read the text for your objectives without HD.

Yeah, that is definately a problem with Dead Rising on a non-HD TV, I've played it on one at my friend's house. The text is crazy, crazy small.

"HDTV does not make anything look better."
Um, yeah. If the content, whether game, dvd, or television, is created for HD, it definitely looks noticeably better than SD content.
Will an HDTV make standard def content look better? If you have an upconverting DVD player, yes; I don't think that works for the games.
I would hope all the games for PS3 and Xbox360 would be 'downconvertable' and playable on 480i/p sets, but it doesn't sound like that's universally the case.
Obviously I'm sure there are some games that spent more time and money on the graphics than the game content/story; 1080p crap is still crap.
Wii doesn't support HD resolutions at all, I don't think. Does it support widescreen tv's?

Cool. I'd like HD gaming, but of the three consoles, the Wii is garnering the most of my attention, and my main gaming TV is widescreen.
I still think 480p looks fantasmic.
The first time I saw a movie in 480p I was like, "Wow. That looks sharp!"

The first time I saw HD-DVD and Blu-Ray I was like, "Yeah, that looks a little better than 480p"

It just didn't have the same effect. Better? Yes. "You'll never be able to go back"? No.

Some people still forget that there is people who do not own such a screen.

In fact some poeple here forget that DVD players is meant to give you picture perfect movies while other people forget that Tube screen Teleivsions rocks hard on picture. Then again most people here forget those days and would rather jump on the next big thing.

I have seen many games and HD screens is not worth the graphics or etc looks. I love the diea of great color that stands out but I really do not think a super hypo screem should be involved 100% of the time.

Most of these new systems is there to push the tard hype of HD this and that.

Classic.

Incidentally, I can't decide if in the last line, you actually meant "tard hype" as in "retard hype", or if that is a dyslexic version of "hard type". You confound me again, RegalSin. Kudos.

I play my 360 on a standard definition television. Looks amazing, to me.

It needs to be said that it looks even more amazing on an HDTV.
