CAGiversary!
So everybody knows that videogame nerds don't have the best fashion sense in the world. In fact it's probably safe to say we (stereotypically) have some of the worst fashion and hygiene out of any group of people.

Nevertheless, I still want to know if you would/do wear Crocs?

I got a pair (Black) as a gift and am trying to decide whether it is safe to wear them outside of my house. I really like em and they feel great and are really useful for bumming around the house, the boat, beach, etc.
They...make your feet smell like shit.
Really? I'd think they would mitigate foot odor since they have so many holes they're like sandals. Do you mean they make em stink from contact with the material (plastic? rubber?)?

I'm sort of in a dilemma b/c I'd like to wear em out but probably will be too embarassed. I'd like to think I really don't care what other people think but OTOH who wants to be like that douchebag that made the thread about Hot Topic's clothing.

They are insanely comfortable, but they just make me think of the dirt and grime that is bonnaroo. They had kiosks and vendors all over the place in '06 and it just made me hate them for life. Nothing worse than being exhausted/messed up, and being pressured to buy plastic colorful shoes. Im so glad I made it out without being sucker punched into buying them.

They're sort of hippyish rubber/plastic sandals that are extremely comfy and durable but extremely unfashionable. They come in all colors (mine are black) and lots are customized with sports logos etc.

Looks like I'm gonna hafta keep em restricted to the house/yardwork/pool/beach etc. They're great as water-shoes b/c they're pretty much impervious to water.

This could be you.

WHo is that guy? He looks familiar. Isn't he a famous chef? If not doesn't he look like some famous chef? Anybody know who I'm talking about here?

Thanfully mine are not hunter's orange. Those are hideous. Also I've never, ever worn socks with any kind of sandals. WTF would you wear socks with sandals, it totally defeets (

That's Mario Batali

My only problem with Crocs is that they're so faux paux
I do not think it means what you think it means.

INCONCEIVABLE!!! Great great movie. Especially since it had Andre the Giant in it.

So I guess that Mario Vitalli is a famous chef, so I personally would give him some leeway for working in those shoes.

Yeah I mispelled "faux pas" which means social blunder and it looks like the majority of CAGs think wearing em out would be a social blunder so yeah I misspelled it but used it right.

I've no interest in debating about whether fashion blunders=social blunders but since there is a commonly used term "fashion faux pas" using it the way I did is not incorrect or unheard of.

Well you wouldn't say something is "so fashion blunder" but I agree that you do know what the term means after all. :grouphug:
I stopped wearing plastic shoes when i was a little kid.
But look forward to wearing them as an old man, most likely when you try to return fruit to the grocery store because "it looked at me funny."

Good times ahead!

Yeah, still a great pic though and brought back some fond memories of watching "A Princess Bride" like 100 times with my sister when we were little.

Inconceivable!!

Good times ahead!
I had a conversation with a friend of mine once that was like that. I said "When you're born they feed you mashed up food and put diapers on you, plus you roll around in some sort of wheeled contraption. When you're old, they feed you mashed up food, put diapers on you, and you probably end up in a wheel chair eventually."

I would wear a pair of black-colored crocs if they were free. All of my nurse friends wear them at the hospital because they're comfortable even after a 12 hour shift.
fuck no. They look stupid and make your feet smell like shit.
What sort of foot-assfunk do you have kicking? My Crocs don't make my feet stink. There is all kinds of ventilation with those things.....

OP, I wear mine out here and there. Who gives a shit whether or not people like your shoes, anyway? A person that makes a snap-judgement about you based solely on your footwear deserves a healthy serving of suck it, washed down with deez nuts. Plus they are comfortable and convenient. I say go for it.

Yeah I usually share your sentiments about fashion Ender. It seems that high fashion is usually about (1) Being uncomfortable, (2) paying too much, (3) showing off how you buy clothes that go with absolutely nothing else and that you will only ever wear once, MAYBE twice.

I think it's a fuckin racket personally. Yet at the same time, we all, at some level, even the most Goth of the goth, give a shit about what other people think. I try not to but I obviously care enough that I would NEVER wear a pair of yellow crocs out to a movie or something.

Black ones on the other hand are sort of non descript, but I'm still on the fence. I think I may be in the majority (82% right now) in that I would feel umm...not dorky or geeky but...for lack of a better word, unfashionable if I were to wear em out.

It's a good gift though and you can bet your ass I'll wear em, I'm just not sportin' em to any parties.

Im a Blank slate when it comes to fashion (maybe im just lazy)

I usually let my GF's pick out my clothes...not always a good choice, some of the old clothes i have worn are just hideous...like the Bright pink polo vest sweater with baby blue collar and matching sweat pants i have hidden in my closet. She said Baby Pink was...umm.."gangsta" and i believed her.

At least she wasn't into leather, you would have wound up wearing assless chaps.

Sure, we all care at least a little what others think of us. However, when you allow others' opinions to dictate what you will or won't wear, then that's insecurity (placing your security in the wrong places).

Anyway, I like the things and wear them sometimes.

Yeah I agree with that, but like you said we all do it to some extent, so I guess it must follow that we are all insecure to some extent, at least with exploring new fashion senses.
Nobody with any goddamn dignity would wear crocs.
Which reminds me...

You left your Crocs at my house. Wanna come get them? KTnxbai
I was just about to post that link, but yeah, I agree with Maddox
That guy kills me.

Now that I know what they are...

Hell No. I love my two tone 'Corporate Bastard' Saddle Shoes way way too much.
