WTF?! WPA security not supported on DSi?

CAGiversary!
Hey gang,

Please tell me there is a workaround. I know my wireless connection at home is working properly. I have WPA security. I get the error code 051300-1 whenever I try to connect to my Apple Time Capsule. Like I said, everything else is working properly.

Thanks for any help.

"The wifi settings maintain the standard connections 1, 2, 3 which only support WEP. I assume this is for backwards compatibility. If you try to use the wifi autodetect feature on a WPA access point, you will get told to use the "advanced settings", which are back on the main internet menu. You then have to dig through that menu to get to connection 4, 5, 6 which are the ones which support everything up to WPA2 AES."

Quoted from another thread.

Older DS games will not be designed to handle security beyond WEP though. I.e., anything above WEP isn't retroactively supported for games released....well, up until now.

So then, if you are planning on playing older WFC DS games, be prepared to still have access to a non-WPA hotspot. I don't know if there are routers that broadcast both simultaneously (beyond one Nintendo has in Japan, I believe), but you should be aware of this now versus later.

WEP for DS games
WPA for DSi specific games and the DSi Store

This has been well known since the DSi was released in Japan last year.

Ty so much! I hope moving forward, Nintendo is able to make DS games WPA compatible as well.

Connection 4 worked! Woohoo!

So you were able to set up yours using WPA?

I am trying to get my wife's hooked up but it's not working (using connection 4). My network is WPA (TKIP). It found the network, I entered my key just as it is in my router and I still get the error code posted above.

I really don't want to downgrade my network to WEP or purchase a USB adapter.

Any advice?

Edit: Right after I posted, I power cycled my router and the connection test worked. Go figure!
