Hello, everybody.

I went in on a Bioshock 2 four-pack on Steam with some friends, and we ended up with some extra copies of the original Bioshock.

I currently have three, and I am looking to sell them for $5 each.

The game was $5 during the Steam Holiday Sale, and is $20 under normal circumstances, so I think that's fair. However, I am willing to consider trades, or lesser amounts of money, or some combination of the two.

Make me an offer, and I will consider it. Thanks for reading.

Buying, selling, or trading gift copies is a direct violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, and if Valve finds out about this happening, they can and will permanently disable the accounts of all parties involved (the seller and the buyer). You are only allowed to freely give away extra copies, nothing more.

Don't take my word for it. From the Steam Support article on gifting extra copies:
May I Buy, Sell or Trade my extra copies?
No. This violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement and may result in all involved Steam accounts becoming permanently disabled.

You've been warned, OP, as has everyone who considers buying one of these off of you. If you go through with it, you are putting your entire Steam accounts, and all the games attached to them, at risk.

Wow. News to me. Thanks for the heads-up. I saw enough other people doing similar things that it didn't even occur to me to check Steam's FAQ. I certainly did not intend to do anything shady. I figured that I was just selling off a pre-order bonus, just as people who bought the special edition of Bioshock 2 might eventually sell their vinyls.

The ban on buying and selling makes a moderate amount of sense (even though extra copies are a very rarefied thing in the world of Steam, and thus they effectually present no danger of undercutting prices), but no trading? In this loyal Steam customer's opinion, that's a bit much.

I mean, not to open a can of worms here, but if this thread is to be believed, then even the CAG 4-Pack trading groups--which are doing nothing but good for Steam's sales--are technically pushing it.

So yeah, I'm a little dismayed. But having looked over Steam's ToS, you're quite right, CoffeeEdge. Again, thanks for calling this to my attention. Unless someone gives me a good reason not to, I guess I'll be deleting this thread...
