So, the new game came out yesterday and I noticed there wasn't a thread. I haven't gotten to play too much, but I have already had some epic matches on hard. The Attitude Era campaign, from the little bit I have experienced, has not disappointed. It really brings back fond memories from my early teen years. I love the in-match goal system, too.

I saw a few friends playing the game yesterday. Anyone care to share their thoughts?

Most everyone is in the wrestling thread talking about the game.

I like it, a little more polished game than WWE '13 but not without it's faults. Every game [especially these days] has faults though so I'll try to focus on the positive.

Pros:
+ Definitely more polished animations. The irish whip animation is the first thing I noticed. I like it.
+ Love the roster, and I haven't even unlocked everything yet.
+ Attitude Era mode is great so far. I'm at "The Great One" in the storyline, and it's been pretty spot on and brought back a lot of great memories -- both ones I recalled, and others I did not (Mankind with the Mandible Claw on himself? Classic!)
+ Nostalgia factor .. for the win.
+ Catch finishers. Pretty badass. Came off the top rope with a double axe handle at Kane and he caught me and chokeslammed me. I barely kicked out in time.

Cons:
- Still some minor glitches. I really don't give a damn about them though unless they are completely game-breaking (ie. save glitches, etc)
- AI reversals. Wayyyy too many of them, it gets just downright fucking annoying. I don't want to outright roll my opponent, but even when they are beat to hell, they still reverse EVERYTHING way too much.
- Waiting until January for playable [non-CAW] Damien Sandow? Are you serious, bro?!

I have yet to venture online (but I hear good things so far), and I've only played Attitude Era mode aside from a couple one on one matches, but this year's game seems like a good investment if you're in serious need of a current gen wrestling title. WWE '12 just looks like a beta version in comparison.

I love it. I knew I'd like it, but it's fantastic. WWE '12 was very much a beta test for WWE '13.

I've had a few glitches, mostly pertaining to clipping on objects, but other than that, it's great. I love the little touches this year, especially any objects in the ring bouncing when you slam down on them.

OMG moments are GREAT. The crowd reaction/noise is amazing, it makes every match feel epic. XBox Live functions are all lightning fast.

I am having a hell of a time finding out how to delete layers in Create a Supertar mode. Can anyone help me? I seriously feel like an idiot. (PS3 version if that helps)

Playing Attitude Era mode, got to the video package right before Rock vs. Mankind at Survivor Series, laughed that they blurred out Al Snow's and Jeff Jarret's name.

It's weird how some of the volume levels are all over the map on the commentary in Attitude Era. It's a weird mix of previously used chatter, stuff from the Attitude Era that was re-recorded specifically for this game, and actual audio from stuff back then. Not a big gripe by any means, just kind of sloppy.

Digging the game though. Haven't played a WWE game since SvR 2010, I think I'm mostly used to the controls now.

EDIT - is the only way to get MP3s on to your 360 to rip them from CDs? I know I can stream playlist stuff from my PC but that's annoying...I guess if I have to I'll do the old burn a CD/rip the tracks. That just seems so fucking archaic these days. Then again, the 360 is older than dirt at this point.

When playing Universe mode, can you not delete Smackdown? I deleted Raw and in its place added the old Raw is War, but when I try to remove Smackdown, it gives me some crap about there needing to be a PPV or something.

Glad to hear this is good. I'm looking to pick this up tomorrow with ACIII and NFSMW using the Target deal tomorrow.

Why isnt Rick Rude in this? Anyways my only beef so far is there is no separate option to turn the menu music OFF while keeping the entrance music on. Why would they even get rid of that? :s

Also, they are the Legion of Doom in WWE, THQ. I guess there are too many NWA clowns who work there and always list them as the Road Warriors. WWE 12 was ok because of the storyline behind them being in it but this year there is no excuse.
Well it's the weekend, who's ready to play? I expect to be on this off and on all weekend.
Let me know if you want to match up. I will be playing this all night when my baby goes to sleep.

I believe you have my gamertag friended from some madden games??? if not K1LLSBURY

holy shit i am awful... couldnt make it through attitude on normal. Had to turn it down to easy :( I do not understand the special system. How do you gain a special move? Do you taunt?

You do a lot of damage. Taunting helps though. There is a bar that fills up to get them, but the only time I've seen them is when I choose to let go of a breaking point submission.

I love this game. This is by far the best WWE game I have played in a long time. I loved WWE '12 as well, but this one blows that one away. The Attitude Era mode, like everyone else is saying, is a blast and brings back fond memories. Throwing Mankind off the top of the cell made me smile for like an hour, lol. I am on the Brothers of Destruction story right now.

I did notice some imperfections with the audio, like the crowd is super loud sometimes that I can't hear the announcer or entrance music well, but it's nothing game breaking whatsoever, just a little disappointing at times.

I have also played a Rumble (loved it) and some singles matches. I went online on the PS3. Had a blast with a buddy. I did experience some lag, but it was only really bad in one match out of the 10+ or so I played last night.

Since I see most of you are well into the Attitude Era mode, can anyone lend a helping hand? I skipped it for now, but want to unlock everything, but I can't figure out how to hit Hawk with the tag title belt. It says by the announce table, but I have no idea where the belt is. I have tried everything I can think of.

I hope this game sells as well or better than the last one so THQ knows that their efforts of moving this game forward are much appreciated and well worth it!

The belt is in the same area as the ring bell/belts from WWE '12, it's just not as visible. Just go in that area and hit LB, I believe. I had a rather difficult time getting past that part because Animal kept taking the belt from me or beating me up before I could hit Hawk in time, so what I did was take the belt and put on the outside of the ring before that objective pops up. Beat it right after I did that.

The title belt is near the announcer table to the bottom right corner of the arena, as far as you can go. You'll see it sitting on top of the time keeper desk near to empty chairs. Walk over and press LB/L1 and you should get it.

I normally get it at the start of the match and move it closer to the ring so I don't have to run for it when it calls for it.

I loved getting to play stuff from Over The Edge '98, as that was the first PPV I went to.

I think my biggest issue with the game is the horrendous audio. Crowd noise will drown out various promos, sometimes entrance music doesn't play, some sound effects cut in and out, etc... I'm sure we'll see a patch that addresses most of those problems, but its still pretty annoying.

Thanks! You guys rock! I will hop on soon so I can pass that part and get the unlocks.

Finished attitude era and the off script storyline. Wish they would release more via DLC, as they are very fulfilling and justify the purchase as an old school fan.

Universe is a little better than last year but doesn't seem like they messed with it much. I did notice some new cutscenes, but they are still very bland. Overall the game is still very fun though and is a blast if you have friends to play with. I don't play online much due to the broken pinning system but if you wanna goof around online shoot me a PM.

This is usually more Scorch's bag if I remember correctly, but here are some (pretty random) themes I'm using to replace stuff in the game and/or use with CAWs.

http://www.mediafire.com/?7wbpy6v74rawd9t

List of contents. All themes are good to great quality except for the one I noted:

americanmales - You know you want it. Need to work on a Bagwell w/ supenders CAW.

cactusjack - Cactus Jack's WWF theme. Replaces the soundalike theme used in-game.

christian - The original - and far, far superior in my opinion - version of his current theme. (Waterproof Blonde - Just Close Your Eyes)

demolition - The most famous tag team theme of all time?

dungeonofdoom - Used for Kevin Sullivan and various DoD members in WCW.

kanetypeonegative - Type O Negative's version of Kane's theme, commissioned by WWE. Wound up never being used.

nwomidcard - The NWO midcarder theme (with voice samples)

severn - Dan Severn's WWF theme. Also appeared as Dr. Death Steve Williams' theme in the old WWF Attitude video game.

sting - Sting's "Crow theme" from WCW (no voiceover)

undertakerbigshow - Theme from their brief run as a tag team (great theme, but low quality. It's as good as you're going to be able to find)

wcwmysterio - Rey Mysterio Jr's original WCW theme. Also previously used by Dungeon of Doom members Loch Ness & Zodiac.

I'm pretty obsessive about custom themes I use in game, so I've adjusted the volumes a bit on each one so they sound at least reasonably close to the volume they should be (at least compared to the themes already in game). I hate it when I download a theme and go through the trouble of getting it on my hard drive, and it winds up being way too loud or too quiet.

I'm actually thinking about going back and adding a touch of reverb to all of the themes, because the in-game themes have it built in. If anyone would be interested in this let me know, I've been futzing around in Adobe Audtion and have come up with what I think is a pretty decent sounding reverb filter. It's not overwhelming and phony sounding, but it gets things a little closer to the in-game entrance music.

By the way, I wouldn't hate it if at least two of you rated my Dan Severn CAW that's posted (just need two more for the achivement). I think there are only two versions of him up...my name is on the one I did and can be found via keyword "UFC" or "Severn." I also did a moveset for him if you're interested.

If any of you guys are trying to get the same achievement, pimp your CAW here so we can vote on it.

I finally started the Attitude mode tonight. Playing on hard, I got up to the One Night Only European title match between HBK and Bulldog. I tried it twice and lost both times, though the second match was a pretty epic battle. I love the way the crowd gets into a match after it's been going on for a while.

Is there a good place to download wrestling themes from? I've checked my usual places but any links seem to have died long ago.
I really miss the Xylot site. That place was awesome until WWE had them shut down.
Yeah. I took pretty much everything I could from that site while it was up because I knew it wouldn't be long before it was killed.

They are still around, but "underground". You have to be registered to join and go to the main theme site though, but they have registration closed off.

Well, I just wound up downloading some stuff off Youtube (still really good quality). It's Attitude Era stuff aside from the Jeff Jarrett theme (opted for his WCW theme as I like that one better). Figured I'd upload them for anyone who is interested.

Here is the theme list:

- Ahmed Johnson
- Al Snow
- The Dudley Boyz
- Hardcore Holly
- The Hardy Boyz
- Jeff Jarrett
- Kurt Angle
- Marc Mero
- The Radicalz
- Road Dogg (non-censored theme)
- Steve Blackman
- T&A
- Tazz
- Test

The pinning system is broken for online matches (too easy to kick out, even in epic matches) but that could be fun. I wouldn't mind getting some guys together for a Royal Rumble or MITB ladder match. I like just screwing around and beating on the AI in creative ways, too, so I'm game for that also. :)

The main reason I started this thread was to eventually hold a tournament, maybe "King of CAG" or "CAG of the Ring". I did notice in player matches, however, that kicking out is really easy, like Hydro mentioned.

With custom themes, anyone else having the issue where they refuse to play during the post-match celebration? Any known fix for it?

I really want to change some themes (DDP, Hart), but them not playing after the match ends is kind of a dealbreaker for me. It's mainly happening in Universe mode, so that could be the issue, too.

Posting this for myself, but I figured others could get use out of it as well.

Patch is out. A few data erase bugs are fixed and the crowd audio is suppoedly adjusted...so those themes I posted may not be balanced anymore. Oh well. Still no fix for crowd audio in story creation mode, so crowd reactions are still next to useless.

When is THQ going to up the number of allowable wrestlers in the ring at once? I know we'll likely never get like giant Rumble matches with 20 guys in the ring at the same time, but I'd be fucking ecstatic if we could have traditional Survivor Series matches.

And when did they take out triple threat tag team matches? They used to be in the games, didn't they?

The "get 5 reviews" achievement isn't popping for me even though I have something with 5 reviews. Anyone got it?

EDIT - Just stumbled onto a solution - went to "My Info" from the online menu. When my stats loaded, it popped.

They took the out a couple of years ago... I think? That's one thing that has pissed me off the past few iterations is the lack of triple threat tag matches. They can make for some epic battles, but THQ fucked that up.

I think I'm still a little iffy about the grappling system. I still like the game, but I always end up doing moves I didn't intend to do. I think I'm still need to get used to it.

I would have like more attitude era wrestlers maybe smaller guys like Al Snow, D'Lo Brown, Crash or The Ministry members. It especially felt a little awkward watching the DX scenes and knowing Chyna and Rude were there. I Still enjoy the game and will definitely play it more.
