wwe day of junk it should be called

my friend is going to rent it, and he buys every WWE game.

I guess the fact that the roster blows is a large influence in that.

I liked the gameplay aspect of 18 and 19. If the gameplay holds up in this one, the addition of an actual story mode should warrant a rainchecked purchase.

That roster DOES suck.

Just another victim of the "Let's Treat the Gamecube Like a Retarded Red-Headed Stepchild" multiconsole wars. Sadly, Raw vs. Smackdown already looks better and won't come out for months. I respect the fact that they want to put the same team on both titles for quality purposes (um... not looking at the Xbox WWE games...) but it's just so obvious where all the attention went.

Still, I will probably pick it up for $20 or less, like I did for Wrestlemania XIX.

I think for once I'm gonna wait to pick up a wrestling game until it's around the $10 mark. Speaking of the roster, who exactly made the cut? WMXIX's poor roster really perturbed me as well, especially in comparison the great XBOX Raw 2 roster.

I was considering getting this but I was unsure because I haven't watched wrestling in years. Now I'm kind of glad I didn't pick it up. Maybe I'll just hook up my N64 for some Wrestlemania 2000 action, damn was that a good wrestling game.

I'm going to offend some people here. And that's okay.

Wrestling is for white trash, pre-pubescent boys, and people with generally no taste whatsoever. There are few exceptions.

Zenithian Legend is an exception because he has a big penis.

Not that I've seen it, of course. But for gods sake, he's a horse.

well its only natural, why wouldnt a gopher be impressed with the cock of a horse, and me being a middle class man from the 50s is not quite as impressed

Believe it or not, us gophers are rather well endowed. Nothing too huge, but it's a nice size.

So...why is it that somebody likes martial arts movies, and they are some sort of conniseur, but somebody likes wrestling, and they are white trash?

Did I mention martial arts? No? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Smackdown is a POS anyway. Does DoR use the Aki system of grappling (see: N64 WCW games)? If so, it beats Smackdown and I don't even need to play it to know that. The gameplay in the Smackdown games is really awful.

i bought it first day and havent stopped playing it. its great. the roster is the only weak part but everything else was well done. ithas gotten great reviews.

It uses a VERY similar engine. Not as exact as Def Jam was but still awesome. Thats why I like DOR, for the engine. Yea the Roster really sucks, but CAW makes up for it. Thats one of the main reasons points of the game anyway.Though I wouldn't pay $50 for it still. I only got it so soon cause my brother split it with me and CC gave the $10 giftcard with it.

the best caw and most fun caw in my opinion still goes to raw 2. i jsut cant get into the caw without their correct music and raw 2 was the answers to my prayers.

Slidecage, why are there like 3 topics going around with you putting down this game? Geez, you must really hate it.
nwo revenge was the best wrestling game ever on N64
that was the first great wrestling game for 64 as it was a great improvement from world tour. wm200 and nomercy continued the greatness

revenge/westlemania 2000/no mercy

that is all a wrestling fan really needs..i haven't bought one since
anyone buy this game and like it Man its awful smackdown still the best
With writing like this I suppose it's no wonder the OP is a wrestling fan.

I havent played a good wrestling game since WWF No Mercy(best gameplay ever). I didnt like Wrestlemania 19 for GC, so how is this one?

the game is pretty good actually, it plays alot like no mercy and has a much better story mode than last years game! my only complaint is that it could of had a few more guys to pick from, but it does have bret hart, andre, greg valentine, brutus beefcake, and roddy piper in it!

awww im white trash

i never miss Monday Night raw =)

1. Smackdown here comes the pain
2. No mercy
3. WCW NWO revenge
best wrestling games

what are you people smoking this game sucks

the story mode is nowhere as good as smackdown it looks just like last years game

there are only 4 divas in this game the tag matches are a joke

STay far far away from this game

if you only got a gamecube hate to tell you but u still dont have a good wrestling game

Wow this topic alone has made me hate the stereotypical morons that run amongst these boards. "You must be white trash because you like a wrestling game." I don't understand how people can classify revenge being better than no mercy either but whatever. DOR looks pretty good, and if it improved upon WMXIX gameplay wise, should play similarly to no mercy.

lol smackdown fanboy. i bet you are just one of those people that only had a ps and played smackdown 1 and 2 for ever...

WWe dor is a really great game. just read any reviews and you'll see.

yea 4 divas. o well w/e who cares.

graphics are improved from last years game. smackdown does not really look any better than this.

story mode once again is an improvement but wont match up against smackdown. but hey much better than revenge mode and it can only get better for next years game.

Seriously, although this may not be as good as Smackdown, that does not make it a bad game. Sure the roster is lacking, but beyond that are there many legitimate problems with the game? Oh and "The story mode sucks" isn't exactly a legitimate claim.

Wrestling games are fun regardless of whether or not you watch wrestling. I haven't watched wrestling since high school, but I still have a good time with the games (so long as they are done similar to the Aki-developed N64 games -- Smackdown's arcadey engine sucks).

I think that this game is pretty fun. Has a decent gameplay engine as well. The only thing that kinda sucks about the gameplay is that when you are knocked down, it takes a long time and a lot of Button A mashing to get back up... even if you have a turbo feature on your controller.

CAW is really good as well; my only gripe is that there is no option for entrance attire. For example, they have Hogan's entrance as a template, complete with the shirt ripping. However, if you put a shirt on him, he doesn't rip it, and he keeps it on during the match. It would be nice to have custom entrance music like the Xbox, but that is obviously not possible, and you get over it anyway.

Story mode is pretty good, even if the only choice you make is to join either RAW or SmackDown! Also, the story is structured exactly the same in both brands, but with different wrestlers, unfortunately.

Overall, I think I'll hang onto my copy at least until I check out the WrestleMania 21 game for Xbox (can't play SvR because I sold my PS2, since there weren't really many games I liked for PS2, unfortunately). Still, I'm glad that I have the N64 wrestling games. Heck, even WCW/NWO World Tour is pretty fun to play nowadays.

Speaking of the AKI grapple-based engine... I'm wondering something. About 90% of wrestling gamers love that engine and would like to see it in a WWE game again. Heh, I remember various game developers being asked about using that engine, and they all said something like, "Well, that engine was great for its time, but you have to move forward and on to better engines." Geez...

I wonder... what is stopping the developers from using the AKI engine? Most of the wrestling gamers would love it, after all. Could they possibly be sued or something? I wouldn't think so, because there are a lot of games that operate similarly. Would one company be able to sue another because their games both used the same button to jump or run or shoot? Maybe someone here can shed some light on this. I don't see why the AKI engine can't make a comeback even if AKI doesn't work on WWE games anymore.

Sorry for the long post, but I just thought I'd offer my thoughts on things. I certainly do enjoy reading other people's opinions; hopefully you all enjoy the same.

i played smackdown, and it might be the worst wrestling game since wcw nitro on ps1. is wwe reckoning as good as wwf no mercy?

Smackdown has better modes, especially story but I like DOR's gameplay a whole lot more. Roster is really lacking but who doesn't play for CAWs anyway. The engine is easily comparable to NM, just rent it and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

Awesome! I love hearing these good reviews about the game! (I haven't seen it except in commercial - on dial up)
All I needed to hear is that the fighting engine was improved, 'cause the last game was pretty good.

so about that roster... I haven't found an official list yet, all I know is that JBL isn't on it? WTF... sure he's worthless, but isn't he the SD Champion? Christ in a handbasket, did THQ ever mess up this time.

OK finally saw that roster, and boy does it suck. I mean honestly how can you have any less than 50 wrestlers in a game, when you include legend wrestlers. Really pathetic if you ask me. No, I won't be picking this up for any more than $15.

I'm going to offend some people here. And that's okay.

Wrestling is for white trash, pre-pubescent boys, and people with generally no taste whatsoever. There are few exceptions.

I guess I'm proud to be white trash then...

the controls blow. It is so hard to block moves.

the characters also move incredibly slow and you cannot use the D-pad.

I did not like the game very much, but did enjoy Smackdown much more. I personally found XIX was much better in terms of the MP

All this bashing about day of reckoning but you people forgot the thing that make smackdown so bleh! Look at the countering system for smackdown its a joke. I could just be pressing the L2/R2 all day and counter mostly everything with zero skill. Day of reckoning at least you have to time the counters right like if you were playing geese in king of fighters series or the parry system in Street fighter 3 and countering moves. Unless they fix this issue in smackdown vs raw I wont be getting that game even if it has a larger cast of characters and more modes because like I said it takes zero skill to counter and spoils the fun of great matches. Gameplay is key here.

Why i hated this game,,, i though that you would really start out in the minor leagues and work your way up like the sports titles

your tag partner is a freaking idoit

i dont really look forward to Raw vs smackdown cause i just dont

Aki system was really good, especially the way it was used in Def Jam. But Def Jam was too easy, had to trade it in. Hope they make Fight for NY more challenging.
