XBL Gold Family Pack Offer+Free 1 Month+2 Free XBLA Games. Free Month & Free Games it states.

Get 4 gold memberships+a free month of xbl+2 free arcade games (snoopy's flying ace & lode runner shown). For less than the price of 2 gold memberships. So you'd be paying about $100+tax where applicable for 4 gold accounts, 1 extra month of xbl gold and 2 arcade games. Saw this on the 360 dashboard in 3 ad's consecutively. (weird I know)

Limited time offer valid only through this in dash signup. Gift will be sent to the primary email address tied to your xbox live account within 6-8 weeks. At end of promotional 13 months, memberships will automatically renew to a yearly membership at the then current price, unless charged or cancelled.-see pricing details in Account Management. Limit 1 per account. Not combinable with other offers.

*you'll be able to Gift Microsoft Points, view reports on your family's xbox live activity, have access to family center, exclusive discounts and all premium services that Gold membership has to offer.

For only $7.96/Month you get everything you love with gold plus.
Pretty good deal, thanks! Be nice if the xbla games were different though.
yeah, but you could always trade them away on here via 360 code trading thread, sell on ebay or give them out to family/friends or just keep them for yourself.

Just a heads up if you aren't the main account holder you will not be able to download or buy M rated content off of XBL. It doesn't matter if you have an adult account or not.

My Xbox wants me to get this offer so badly, that it advertised it THREE times in a row (as in right next to each other).

Regardless, I didn't bite.

This is exactly the reason I want to cancel. 4 adults in my gold family plan my wife could care less about M rated content but my 2 brothers are screwed getting Black Ops DLC and other M rated DLC. Makes absolutely no sense you can play an M rated game on a disk but can't buy M rated DLC.

that doesn't make sense, he was stating that the only person who can buy content is the main account holder but I haven't heard of such a thing. Proof please or a legit source link? Wouldn't make sense to be able to gift microsoft points then as it would defeat the purpose. Thought you could change the settings for 'family' accounts to have access to other things and not be restricted to only family things?

Uhh. What? My family account settings say I'm able to purchase M rated content, and I can set whatever I want for my subaccounts. If I can't actually buy M rated content then that has to be a mistake. As it happens there's no M-rated content I want to buy right now, so I can't test it out, but then unless you've got some proof of this, and given that there are clear settings for the parent account and the subaccounts specifically to allow (or not) M-rated, or whatever rating you want, content, then I don't believe it.

EDIT: I misread. You said the sub accounts. I'm not sure I see this as an issue, then. If I want my kids to have access to M rated content then I'll just get it with my main account. The intent of the family plan was for families. Perhaps this is their way of preventing people from sharing their family gold account with people not in the same household. I guess I'm OK with that. Well, really I think we shouldn't have to pay at all, but I bought into this situation and so I'll accept it. :)

thanks OP, I did this as I have 2 accounts for personal use and wanted to get one for my wife. It gave me a $50 credit for the time I had left on one account and a free extra month for the time I had left on the other account. (2 months) So I basically paid $50 for 4 accounts of live for 14 months and 2 free games. and I would have had to pay at least $40 to renew my other account in a few months

Family Account Settings:

Login - can use xbox.com
Go to Family Center
Highlight on member you want to change

(all of mine were custom and allowed everything already)
You can customize or just select Adult, then Save.

This is partially correct. If you create an account with your age

I will back this statement up. So far, no matter what age you are, if you are added to a Family as a sub-account, your account will revert to a child account and you will not be able to view or download M-rated content, such as M-rated demos from the Marketplace. The primary account is not affected, probably because it is seen as the "parent/adult" for the family.

This has been an ongoing problem on the official Xbox forums. This forum, although not an official statement from Microsoft, has been the main forum for this problem: http://forums.xbox.com/1/35022774/ShowPost.aspx#35022774
On page 5, a member stated, "One interesting thing, the Level III support people are now telling people that any account added as a sub-account will be demoted to child, too bad the Level I & II techs, their website and their advertising videos don't know that."
Microsoft, of course, will not admit this problem publically because that's bad marketing on their part. I will not get the Gold Family Pack until the sub-accounts I add will stay adult accounts.

If the sub-accounts you would add are adult accounts and you still feel skeptic on the issue, go ahead and try to sign-up for the Gold Family Pack. Several people have had to call Xbox Customer Support (some conversations last hours) to refund the GFP, and some sub-accounts have experienced errors which prevent the accounts from becoming adult accounts again after leaving the GFP.
Again, this only truly affects you if the sub-accounts you are planning to add to the family are adult accounts (age 18+).

I guess the keyword is "family" so they think (or expect) it to be adults as account main holder and the sub accounts for kids. Especially with the holidays just ending and kinect selling so much, they didn't expect such problems and add to the fact as someone mentioned, it's kind of a way to block people from signing up and sharing the remaining accounts for adults and taking advantage of the deal. Thanks for the information everyone.

i just tried to remove my credit card info on the site and got this:

" An outstanding balance exists on this payment instrument. Please try again later. "

what the fuck does that mean?

What happens when the main account holder buys a XBLA game, theme, DLC? Wouldn't the other family accounts have access to the content I buy and play without me being logged in?

has anybody seen this deal within the last few days???

I went to do this and I get every offer but anything for Family Gold now that I wanna sign up...

I have the plan and did it with 3 friends. It's not so bad but it's VERY buggy. As some have already stated, the sub-accounts will not be able to download M-rated content. This can be overlooked by downloading the stuff on Xbox.com and then signing in on your Xbox and it getting downloaded then. At the same time, even this is buggy and won't work all the time.

It should work just as if you weren't on a family account. Meaning anyone can play it on the first xbox the game/DLC was first downloaded to, but you'd have to be logged in to play it on another xbox.

The concept is pretty well explained in Shipwreck’s Guide To Half-Priced Xbox Live Arcade Games and Marketplace Content

Once I went to Kinect Dashboard I was offered 12+2 months free, and the 2 new accounts I had just created got a free month of gold, which added 2 more months free to the 12+2 for 16 total months for $70 (-$30 for my 6 remaining months on main profile)... coulda been better but not too bad either

I need to verify this with my son. I know he has downloaded M-rated DLC, but I'm not sure if it has been since we switched to family, although I think he has. If this is the case, along with the stupid EA age restrictions independent of XBL where he can't even play Madden online, would be about the last straw.

Quick question, as I haven't really looked into the family accounts. If one family account gets DLC, whether mature or otherwise, can all accounts on the family account use the DLC?

(I guess I could/should google instead of asking here, but ... .

If that was the case, you'd have a lot of threads here (and elsewhere) about people gaming the system, which is precisely why MS will never offer that, even though it makes perfect sense. Still tied to the console like any other DLC.
