Xbox 2 and "Revolution"

If any of you subscribe to EGM, I am sure you have gotten this months issue. Well, did any of you see that little colum saying that Nintendos next-gen console "Revolution" willl debut in 2005? Also, on the same page, there is a small article about how the xbox 2 may also be a pc. Finally, there were predictions (again on the same page) that the PS3 would debut with an MSRP of $500-$700! What do you all think abou this? If "Revolution" and Xbox 2 debut in the same year, which will you get?

I'll wait, thanks. With all the problems with the first batch of consoles, save the GC, I'm definitely going to hold out for a while so they can work out the kinks and the price. ;)

none right away... im happy with my xbox.. and if it isnt going to be backwards compatable like some people are saying... i may not buy any of the next gens..

EGM ain't crap

the no hard drive Xbox2 is just one of the many possibilties.

there are hundreds of ideas for the next xbox and the pc/xbox is one. the no hd is another.

i see no reason to buy a GC other than a couple of games.
"revolution" isn't even in consideration for me.

it xbox2 or nothing for me.

(revolution, remember the last time a this was the name of something and what happened. *cough* MATRIX *cough*)

The hard drive was not a good business decision", says Microsoft,"it weighed down the machine with higher costs but did not help command a price premium"

and even in egm (which is crap)

EGM Dean Takahashi writes that Microsoft (and several developers that have already recieved development kits)have stated on the record Xbox 2 does not have a hard drive.

bleh

I have enough ps2 games to last me forever,

So I'll get a ps3 for under 200

a nintendo system when there is enough first party stuff

and an xbox 2 when it is rediculously cheap

now that the generation is almost over i see that buying the ps2 was a mistake. im not a fan of final fantasy so almost all of the games i had for it i could have got on xbox plus it has Halo, Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell way before the other consoles. But Ninty is still the best because they make the best quality games.

So i would get Revolution first, then XB 2, and i wouldn't get PS3 unless it had MGS, GTA, and Splinter cell all exclusive. but i doubt thats going to happen.

Ill get the next gen systems if they are less then $300 when they launch (though that amount could change, as by the time they come out Ill be in college). I dont know what system I want first, as I have not see the offical specs or any games yet.

I'll by the next system when it has a game that could be considered one of the greatest. A great game probaly won't show up until a year or so after launch o the system. Years ago, I bought the PS then N64, this time I've bought the Xbox, then the GC. Once one of the systems has a terrific game, then I will buy it. However I most likely will only spend $250 at the most on whichever system I choose.

never a xbox2 since i have my modded xbox, ill go with something cutesy like revolution, ps3 is way over budget if its really 500 bucks, ima stick with my xbox for now. then revolution, then maybe a ps3

Xbox 2 will be like the first with not a single game wortgh purchasing.

Nintendo is headed in the wrong direction, trying to cater to the idiot masses screaming for the stupid new zelda.

Sony just sucks. Never buy Sony Blank videocassettes no matter what.

So, all you have is a Dreamcast then?

And whats up with EGM being Playstation fanboys/fangirls. The Revolution/DS is going to be just as good if not better than the PS3/PSP.

Anyways, I am going to buy all three in this order and for the following reasons:

1.) Revolution: Will buy the day of. Nintendo has the 1st party games down. Unlike Playstation and to a lesser extent Xbox, the thing doesn't break. The big N doesn't need 3rd party games cause some 3rd party games are crap (See Seek and Destroy for Playstation "We will condone any game that pays us the fee" 2). And like Reggie said "We Make Games Worth Playing" Zelda, Mario Next, Mario Party and Mario Kart.

2.) XBOX 2: If the rumors are true there might be a Hard Drive/Portable GBA type device or a Hard Drive/iPod type device. If that happens, I will be camping outside of the store just like the rest of you people. I am sure that the XBOX 2 will maintain its suppremacy and last time I checked online= good. Why make friends when I can pay for them with Live.

3.) PS3 After the first few batches reveal the defects (and you know there will be defects, SONY does not have a Quality Assurance department). The only reason I will be buying the system, with a Best Buy Warranty  is because of SOCOM 3. SOCOM is like crack, gotta have it.

xbox2 all the way.
PS3, maybe. i mean my PS2 sits in an inch of dust right now. why? because i'm a graphics whore and i love my HDTV
revolution? never, or maybe when it's down to 90 bucks like the gamecube.

I plan on buying all three systems, if they all pull through. Nintendo's when it comes out, and Sony's and M$'s when they drop. A lot.

Until I see some real specs and some games I like, I would not vote for any of the next gen systems yet. It's still too early to see who is going to deliver and who is just blowing smoke. I'm sticking with my Atari 2600 until then.

no, i have a gamecube and game boy player, but with the introduction of that loser reggie and the stupiditry odf the new zelda, they are headed the wrong way.

I think the first system I'll be picking up will be the Revolution. I'm thinking Nintendo has some really cool things up its sleeves and there's always the brilliant 1st party games.

nintendo has recently said they are launching when their competitors do.

i'm pretty sure they're launching when ps3 does. A nintendo Exec. was on tv telling how they were going to spend more time making games and accessories for the GC. Then they said that when they said that, it made fanboys scared, so they reassured them that they were staying in the hardware business, but they would be launching at the same time as the other 2.

Im a big Nintendo fan, and I'll get their new console when it comes out, but even I realize that if they screw this next console up like they did with N64/GC, its over for them a home console company.

I'm avidly following the details as they appear, as always, but I'm very unenthused about actually buying any of the new systems at launch. I just have way too committed in the games I already own but havent played. I've still got plenty from the previous generation to enjoy before I can even hope to catch up with the 300+ titles I have from the current systems. (including Dreamcast)

I will eventually own them all. It's inevitable but I couldn't begin to guess at this point which one will come first. All of them will have games that say you must own this and the machine it exclusively requires, so I'll more likely be swayed by the first system with a prevalence of good items at CAG prices.

Big N first it will at be at least the same price of the competition, but probably less and Denisdfat how can u be talkin smack on the new system when its not even out yet and u really dont have any solid specs and the same with Zelda. Also u have a pic of the new link as your avatar, seems u are fine with it.

I don't see myself getting any of those consoles near release. I have a backlog of over 20 games, that will tide me over until they drop to decent prices me thinks.

"Stupidity of the new Zelda?!?"
WHAAAAAAAA?!
How in any way, shape, or form is making an incredible-looking, more-mature Zelda game in any way stupid? You sir (or ma'am) are nuts.

Anywho, I'll most likely end up with all 3 at some point, but depending on how successful I am (I'll be fresh out of college- WHEE!), that'll decide what I buy and when.

I'll undoubtedly be getting the "Revolution" (and DS for that matter) on day one. I've gotten every Nintendo console since N64 (granted it was only like 3-4 including GB variants, but still - that's loyalty) and I haven't seen any reason to ditch the big N yet.

I think it's funny you buy all the Nintendo consoles considering all they do is remake the same 6 games over and over.

You could've stuck with an N64 and had most of the Gamecube's library.

Just because lots of games are sequels doesn't make them the same. Most everyone will agree SSB Melee is much better that SSB, and Double Dash is better than 64. MArio sunshine is much different than Mario 64. And Wind Waker sure as hell isn't Ocarina of Time.
