New to the 360 and don't really know what is best. Can someone recommend me which batteries are good or if i should go with plug and play?

I like the plug and play because you can continue to play while charging the batteries. I just buy bulk AA batteries at costco when I need batteries for my other controller (only have one plug and play battery but I have two charger wires lol).

Don't buy plug and play. The official microsoft charger kit is pretty bad (I have 3, and they all either no longer hold a charge or don't work for wahtever reason).

Buy some rechargable AA batteries and a good charger. Sure you won't be able to use the charge cable and still play, but if that situation ever pops up, just quickly pop out the AA's from the nearest remote, and continue play.
Is it possible to take out the charger kit and just plug the controller to the console and play wired?
It is possible to do this, and in fact it's how I currently play, because as help1 said, my battery wont hold a charge anymore. I plug it in, the light turns red(charging), and within 5 minutes, it's green. Then the little circle starts flashing warning me my battery is getting weak WHILE ITS PLUGGED IN! LOL. Piece of crap. I can usually unplug it for about a half hour before the game pauses telling me it's dead. I don't know about anyone else, but the flashing circle on the controller is distracting and annoying and it drives me crazy. On the bright side, my battery did last about 2-3 years before this happened, and I play alot, at minimum 10 hours a week, and at most, well, an embarrassing amount. For the cheap price of a new battery, like $10 or something, or $20 for the cable too, it might be worth it. Just expect to get a new one in a couple years.

^^^When you can no longer hold a charge, keep unplugging it from the controller and plugging it back in, eventually it'll charge normally.

Keep in mind all it is is a special battery pack with a pair of cheap rechargeable AAs in it. I don't see why you can't just put a better pair of batteries in it.

$1.93 shipped from eBay, jerko. $1.60 if you're snappy.

Same thing happened to me - and it was for my pink, breast cancer, controller. I actually got a replacement for 50 cents during a CAG lowball sale.
