XBOX 360 Pre-paid codes for game content Question

if you have a code and type it but don't actually redeem it (click redeem) but you enter it on your console just to test it out and see if it's valid, will it work if I give that code to someone else for them to use on the their console?

I had two code for "ABC" and I wanna trade Bobby for his "123", but I'm not sure which of the two codes I've used. Is there a way to see if it's still valid? I don't want to end up giving the person a dud of a code.

Yep, you can test it on your console. You can't, though, on a PC, unless that's changed. Anytime I ever entered one on a PC, it automatically redeemed itself and said the item would be downloaded next time I used my console.
