Microsoft this morning confirmed part of the bundle rumor that's been ravaging the Internet for weeks: All Xbox 360s and Xbox 360 Elites will now come with free copies of Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, a $90 value.

Nice to hear the double-game bundles are finally back. Hopefully they keep bundling such great games, too (as opposed to the Tetris Worlds crap they started resorting to on the OG Xbox)

Hot on the heels of a price reduction for all Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft is now giving holiday buyers even more value by including two great games with every Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Elite, a retail savings of $90 for consumers. The acclaimed "Forza Motorsport 2" (Microsoft Game Studios) and "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" (Activision) will both be included for the recently reduced prices of $349.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $449.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 Elite. Both bundles will be available retail-wide by the end of October.
old and not a deal.
The official press release just came out a few hours ago and I don't see anything about it here in the deals forum.

Yay finally a confirmation. Will most likely be picking up a premium as soon as they ship - rumored Oct 9 for premium.

Checked BB, CC, and Wal-Mart over the weekend and all of them were out (probably cleared out old stock to make space for the holiday bundles).

Would have preferred a price drop to the rumored $300, but I thought about picking up Forza 2 anyways - Marvel UA is just icing on the cake.

Any chance that CC or any of those retailers might have another packaged deal soon where they throw in an extra controller? ;-) I already own another 360 so I'm in no rush.

Anyone with retail, corporation, packaging, manufacturing knowledge...

When companies decide to do something similar to this, do they:

1) Contact retailers and ask them to ship back certain amount of surplus consoles back so they can repackage them with the games

2) Let the retailers deal with surplus. Newly manufactured systems are packaged with the free games.

It'll be new stock that comes packaged, and depending, they may ship copies of the 2 games that can be given with the unpackaged systems.

This could be good news for those waiting to pick up Forza 2 or Marvel UA. In the past, used copies of Xbox pack-ins dropped like a rock.
I just need info on the core arcade bundle.
the new core bundle has not been officially confirmed yet.

I seriously hope that the 9th (i.e, tomarrow :) ) rumor is true. I was going to pick up a 360 last week, but decided to wait. Now that these have been confirmed, i now know I must wait for them (for forza, love da forza). Waiting sux though....
If this is a dual game disc, I'll buy it off of someone.
I'm gonna go on a limb and say that it is 2 separate discs. the 360 uses a DVD 9, roughly 9 GB of space. Marvel comes in at the tune of between 6.28 and 6.34 GB and Forza is in at around 6.53. So unless they found away to shave a little over 3.5 gigs, which is unlikely, it would have to be on 2 discs.
does it have the new 65nm chip?
That's what i'm waiting to hear.
IGN reported that some of the HALO edition 360's had it... and it's possible that some of the ones that were manufactured after 8-24-07 are slowly being leaked in. Here's to hoping that they do late this month or early November.

after reading that, one would have to assume that these boxes would indeed have the new mobos in them. Cause it isn't like it is the old units packaged in new packaging (at least for the pro, with the new HDMI and all).

One could only hope.

You might have a 3rd case happen. On the OG xbox tetris worlds and clone wars combo disk was on some store shelfs. Some cost a penny some cost 99.99.

So there is a chance these games will hit the stores in some type of "Not for sale" package.

Also this thread is good incase we find a deal on this package or for people who want to trade away Forza or MUA.

I myself hope that there is a flood of used Forza's hitting the stores so I can score one for cheap.
probally for christmas deal or black friday...
Probably not as a lot of websites have "quoted" ( i mean, who knows for absolut sure) M$ saying that both new bundles will be out by the end of October. Apparently, the rumored 10/9 drop date is wrong :( sad day in my neck of the woods. I have been wanting to get a 360 for about a month (like I actually have the money for it) and I keep waitin for the bundle .

Ugh. I literally just bought an Elite two days ago. I don't suppose Target has some sort of price guarantee that would apply in this situation?
Anyone heard anything about the core package yet?
They havn't officially announced anything yet.

I believe the Core set will get a new SKU, a wireless controller instead of wired, a disc with four free XBL arcade games, and also a 256MB memory card. Everything else is the same. Not sure if coinciding with the Pro/Elite bundles.

Also rumored to have an HDMI mobo

thats not a bad deal at all for $279.99...

These bundle packages will show up long before black friday in most areas, so don't fret you won't have to wait that long.

As far as the new core with 5 free XBL Arcade games and an included 256 MB card ... it's a great deal if you don't play online. (You need a hard drive for game patches and demos and stuff) I'd say a better value at that price than the Wii. Nintendo may have to drop $50 in the next six months, who knows. :)

2 words> Shibby! :p I just called my local gamestops, neither have the new bundles in, but both are "hoping to get some more in later this week". Well, only one store guy said that. the other just said "no. ....... ", prick. Anyway, i am going to be calling every day now until they get them in :D

I got a harddrive :bouncy: So that's why im only getting the core. I'm going to be super stoked if they do the HDMI ports in it too.

Well, i have good news, and I have bad news. I went to my local gamestop (which are currently all out of 360 pro units). They said they will be geting more on thursday or friday. When I asked about the 2 game bundles, one guy had no idea, and they other said they got an email. I don't think the guy should have read it out loud, but he sort of did. Anyway, they are recieving stickers and game bundles with information on how to "convert" the regular boxes to the "bundled" ones. They are going to be releasing them on Friday.

This is sort of bad news as all these units will be the old units. I can only hope that because my local gs is getting new units (as they are all out) that they are going to be newly built units.

So friday is the day, y'all. I'll finally join the great group of 360 owners :) I'm actually skipping my 1 o'clock class to go pick it up.

I'm not sure this means all of the units are old units. They just want to sell the ones already on shelves before selling the new bundles.
