It's obvious that the only thing these games have to offer is a fresh coat of paint. There isn't really anything built specifically for the 360 yet. I'm hoping other games get better reviews - especially PDZ but I'm not going to hold my breath. There are really only 2 times at console launches that I can remember thinking "holy shit this game is worth the price of the system" and that was playing Super Mario 64 and Soul Caliber. It's very rare to have a AAA title right out of the gate.

Don't expect much more from the sport's title's than graphical improvements & faster loading, the same applies for Gun, King K, Nfs:Mw & Thaw...

I am only buying one game at launch: PGR3. It alone is worth the purchase of a new system to me. It will be the easiest $450 I've ever spent.

yes lets all jump to conclusions even though none of us have played the final versions of these games...one thing i've learned recently: fuck reviews. Quake 4 was one of the greatest games i've ever played in my life and some reviews said it wasn't great. I'm waiting to play these hands on before I judge.
I'm waiting to play these hands on before I judge.
That's the smartest way to do it. But PGR2 was a revolution for racing games; so I'm ready to risk it on PGR3.

Glad to hear you liked Quake4.. I'm going to have to give that a rent at least.

I never really cared much for ign reviews half of the games that they scored under 8 I thought deserved at least a 8 or low 9

if you read the ign reviews, it sounds like they're trying really really hard to not be impressed. if you read the 1up.com reviews, it sounds like they are being much more objective and just taking the games as they are.
if you want to get an impression of the people reviewing the games at ign, watch the video reviews and just listen to the guys speak... what muttering, stuttering dumbasses. i had no idea that ign allowed high school dropouts from backwater, kentucky to review their games. good to know.
then go watch some of the video previews, 1up show, commentaries, etc. at 1up. well, thats interesting... these guys are actually articulate and sound like they've been educated. who would have thought that you should get writers to WRITE game reviews?!?
i like ign less and less every day. and, by the way, this is in no way related to the scores given to the games. if you read the reviews and , like i said, listen to the video reviews, i think you'll come to the same conclusions.

man I thought a game that got an 8 or higher was pretty dam good........I guess my expectations arent as high as others

I disagree. they both suck. 1up's Kameo review is the most unprofessional piece of journalism I've read since IGN's "Random guy at a Gamestop in New York said there won't be walk in sales of 360's till April" article.

Gamespot seems pretty on it with this round, staying fairly professional and objective and not letting the hype of new systems or industry politics influence their reviews, as much.

man I thought a game that got an 8 or higher was pretty dam good........I guess my expectations arent as high as others

it is good, some people exect 9s and 10s for everything though. All things considered, it's shaping up to be a great launch.

Not one review has swayed my opnion on getting this system and Hell would freeze over before it did.

Quake IV includes Quake II, Quake III was my all time favorite DC game online. I don't care what the reviews say.

PD0, never played the N64 version, want this one bad.

Condemned, mmmmmm, Condemned.

Ridge Racer 6, my favorite PSone driving game was Ridge Racer Revolution. I don't know why I felt the need to obsess over that game until I beat it but I did. I love this series, even 5, but I paid $8 for it new.

Kameo, the reviews are exactly what I thought they would be.

COD 2, who can say no to this? Not me.

King Kong, I thought the demo was fantastic. Yes, I'm in the minority. Game was a Michel Ancel creation, Rayman 3 and Beyond Good & Evil, to me passing on this is almost like passing on a Miyamoto game.

PGR 3, I don't care if the ONLY thing they changed was the graphics. This is my favorite racing series bar none. With the graphics looking the way they do they could have just re-done PGR 2 with updated looks and I'd still drop $50 on it.

You know what's great though? I have $1,047 in store credit and I'm not paying one thin dime out of pocket for any of it. So to me, it's all a bargain.

You people actually trust 1Up's reviews? Come on. I expect more than 5 or 6 paragraphs when it comes to reviewing a Next Gen game. The IGN review for Madden was terrible, it said nothing that you couldn't find out in every preview.

Oh, and an 8.7 for Kameo from GameSpot is NOT bad at all. But of course, most people think that if all the games aren't at a 9 or above, the entire launch sucks. Let's check out the PS2 launch and compare it to Xbox 360's:

Now do you guys remember how mediocre launches usually are? With the 360, you are gonna have Kameo, Call of Duty 2 and PGR3, all of which will be very, very good. And the wild cards like Condemned, Perfect Dark Zero, and Madden 360 easily push the 360's launch ahead of anything in recent memory.

all i can say is that i had to do it, our store got in condemned and PGR3 today, i had to put them in. Condemned is absolutely going to be the sleeper hit, and PGR3 well it feels like PGR 2 on crack with prettier graphics, so that means its also amazing. Condemned is friggin gorgeous too, PGR 3 condemned, my games....

I'm upset about the NBA game reviews....however, I may get one. My wife/family needs something to get me for X-mas. Condemned looks to be sweet though, I cannot wait. 5-6 launch games for me (already paid for).
PGR 3, I don't care if the ONLY thing they changed was the graphics. This is my favorite racing series bar none. With the graphics looking the way they do they could have just re-done PGR 2 with updated looks and I'd still drop $50 on it.
I agree with those that say PGR3 is just PGR2 with better graphics, but they might be missing an important point: it's not just prettier, the improved visuals greatly improve the sense of SPEED, and that is what makes a great racing experience! The run around the 'ring in the Panoz that is posted on the net really shows this.. when the guy is in the cockpit view, the sense of speed is terrifying in some of the tight twisty bits.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to like a game they don't like, but I don't want to diminish Bizarre's accomplishment with PGR3.

If you really need an NBA game get a current gen one. They're half the price and have more features. That's what I decided to do with NHL 2K6. I just don't see $60 worth of value in the 360 version when the Xbox one is $20. I'm glad I waited.

BTW, those slo-mo goaltender save things have to go. That's the worst innovation on a fast based transitional hockey game ever.

Are they Backwards Compatible though? I know I'm unplugging my XBOX and storing it away or selling it. I have a HALO XBOX though, so I may keep it around and sell it years down the road.

The reviews were higher than I expected. I think they are pretty decent, and I honestly couldn't care less. By end of next year there will be a ton of better games out than these.

Personally, I think XB360 launch lineup is pretty darn terrible. That said, it's still better than the DS lineup at launch. And look at the DS now. It's doing fine, easily outperforming the stagnating PSP. In other words, the launch lineup means very little to a system's success.

In fact, the DS beating the snot out of the PSP on three continents might be the first hint of Sony vulnerability, which is a very good sign of the 360.

Personally, I think PGR3 is the only must-have launch title. The XB Live features alone are way beyond anyone's seen before. Can't wait to play it.

Condemned will make a great rental. But it's lack of replayability or a multiplayer mode make it an iffy buy. Looks to be a great game though.

Kameo and Gun are looking like rentals since they're short. That's okay, I don't mind renting games for a while.

I'm worried about PDZ. For a game that's been in development since the last century, we should know more about it than we do. No playable demo on the kiosks, no early reviews. Most people with first-hand experience playing it consider it a disappointment (including the manager of my local EB). I just get the feeling it's like a movie that isn't pre-screened for critics so we won't know it sucks until after it's released. All signs point to it being a turd, but hopefully I'm just reading the signs incorrectly.

your use of the word "terrible" is obviously an indicator that you don't understand how launch titles typically are in the history of console gaming =p

Terrible? What the hell do you expect from a launch lineup? And all signs point to PDZ being a turd? Then why is it every mainstream gaming media site and magazine has raved about it in previews? And you get game opinions from the manage of an EB? Oh boy......

The Xbox 360 launch easily blows away any other console launch. Do I really need to re-post the hideous PS2 and Gamecube launch titles again?

I'm really tired of reading reviews that say "this game doesn't feel like its 'next generation' to me".

Are these reviewers that jaded? After about 15 seconds playing the demo versions of Kameo and Call of Duty at Walmart I felt the 360 was truly the next generation of consoles. What more do these people want, interactive holograms?

Or maybe a new controller? New gameplay features from the power instead of [slightly?] better graphics?

Hilarous. The buzz on PDZ has been bad for months. What mags do you read? Tiger Beat?

Listen, when the manager of my EB, who's job is to sell me stuff, tells me frankly to avoid a game like the plague, and he knows this because he's played it himself and it blows, I have tendency to listen.

Sorry if that was hard for you to understand, but hopefully that spells things out for you a little better. Normally, I try to talk slower for people like you, but you can't really do that in these forums.

Now it's possible he saw an early build and the game's improved since then. But in that case, where are the early reviews? Where's the demo? That's all I'm asking.

The buzz for Halo 2 was that is was going to be awesome... I hated it, so dont pull "everyone is hyping that its gunna be awesome!"... I think that I will only end up having Kameo and PGR3... I won my 360, but I dont think im gunna keep NSFS. I havent heard many good things about it.

The buzz was bad for a while... But, a lot of previews have said that the newer build is a completely different game. I'll wait until some reviews come out, and until I can play the game myself, before I make a decision on it.

The Dreamcast launch was better... But, this isn't a bad launch by any stretch.

i agree. DS lineup was Feel the magic and some random shit? PSP had the greatest launch games out of console or portable. Yet, their games right now...drip drip...kinda like a constipated turd. one at a time. DS right now in full diarrhea mode, all their AAA games for the holidays, perfect timing. even on the horizon, alot of commited games.

so hopefully, the 360 follows the DS trajectory. get the games lined up, please MS.

That line alone....priceless.

Hey VanillaGorilla, did you forget the 50 pool games on that PS2 launch list, or did I just miss them? :)
Maybe those were a day each after launch, I forget.

I dont care what one reviewer thinks, because it is what I think that matters. Even though they gave IGN gave Nhl 2k6 a 7.5 I will still be getting it on launch day. The problem is most of the reviewers sound like graphic whores IMO,the graphics are much better, but what do they expect not to tell the difference between reality and a game c'mon now. Im buying all 8 games at launch that I originally anticipated on getting and no reviews will sway my opinion of the games that I will pick up for the 360.

Although I don't really care for the genre's, I predict Condemned and PGR3 to be the killer apps for this go-round.

What with PD0 sucking, DOA4 pushed back and Oblivion pwned, I had enough nails in my 360 coffin. I cancelled my preorder about 2 weeks ago I guess? Instead I treated myself to a current gen xbox and about a bajillion preowned gaames for like 1/3 of what I'd pay for a 360 &2 games.

Sad thing is, I'm still trying to not give into temptation and pick one up at walmart...

Jury is still out on PDZ... Reportedly, the later builds were vastly improved. But, we'll see if thats true or not in the next couple days.

This is going to be a big problem in this next generation... unless you play these games on an HDTV, I don't think most people will notice the difference (compared to the current gen). If you do play on an HDTV, there's no question.

I put in Shadow of the Colussus last night.. I can't believe how much better the X360 looks; it's just incredible. (I play on a 32" HD LCD)
