I just got my Xbox, and I thought it would be fun to have some games I can use an actual gun with. What games like this for Xbox exist?

Thanks!
Jordan

House of the Dead 3 is the best one to use a light gun with. If you finish HotD3, it unlocks a copy of HotD 2. Unfortunately, this "port" of the game (basically from the arcade/Dreamcast version) runs like CR@P on the XBOX hardware. Apparently, noone decided to test (or didn't care) that the game ran so poorly compared to how it ran on the Dreamcast. Oh well, just one more reason to keep my Dreamcast around...lol.

Silent Scope has an "issue" that requires the brightness of the TV screen to be set so high that a lot of the stuff looks washed out. I sold my copy on eBay. This is another example of a game (at least Silent Scope #1) that ran better on the DC hardware (at least due to the brightness/washed out aspects).

Another little known game that can use a light gun is Starsky and Hutch. In a two player mode, player 1 can drive the car while player 2 can use a light gun to shoot the bad guys and other items (pickups/etc.). This game is probably the most accurate of ANY of the light gun games for the XBOX. Once you set up the aim, it is nearly DEAD ON (i.e. little fudge factor for "where" you actually shot as in some light gun games). In other words, if your aim is off, your shots will be too.

Anywho, HotD 3 runs good (even if it's short) and is fun to play. The 2 player mode of Starsky and Hutch is kul too. You can take turns with driving and shooting, makes it more of a "team" effort sort of thing that is fun.
Thanks for your help. Are the light guns compatible with any regular old TV?
Yes

I would love to play HoTD, I have a Sony Wega and light gun games won't work on it. Does anyone know of ant light gum games that are compatible with an HDTV?

What sort of HDTV? Is it a projection? If it is a projection that is not CRT-based (such as LCD or DLP), it won't work.

Which light gun were you using on S&H?
I was using the SS Light Rifle and it worked great.

I've found the best settings on a TV is to turn up the contrast to the highest (darks = darker, lights = lighter), and, turn up the brightness just a bit. This give things a bit more of a cartoony/less realistic look, but seems to make the light guns (even my Dreamcast ones) pick up the shots and stuff much better.

This is a combination of what I know and what I've heard (from reliable sources, other XBOX lightgun users).

I have the Silent Scope Light Rifle. They run $50 new. A while back Fry's ran a sale on them with the Silent Scope Complete game for $50 total. You can find em used on eBay a good bit cheaper than $50. There are two varieties, the mostly Green with Black accents (older) one and the mostly Black with Green accents (newer) one. The SS gun can be broken down into a large pistol, or, keeping the stock on it as a smaller sawed off shotgun type weapon...fun for use with HotD since you are using a shotgun in that game. Plus, it helps to hold the stock against your shoulder so your arms don't get as tired

I've heard the Pelican light gun (green pistol) is problematic and doesn't work too well from two different ppl. There are other pistols on eBay but I don't know much about them. If you find the name for one just go on Google or Yahoo and type the name of the gun and "review" behind it. Some sites that have reviews of em should be around the net.
