xbox refurb 20gb $149.99 compusa

is this a good deal or not because i've been hunting for a cheap xbox and this seems good enough for me. Is comp usa a good place to get consoles?
wait wait ... I thought CompUSA tanked not to long ago ....
So did I... Plus, this has a really crappy warranty because as far as I can tell it wasn't refurbed by Microsoft.

Apparently they get these from iRepair Squad. According to their website:

Here's what differentiates our Refurbished Xbox 360s & eliminates the "Red Ring of Death" forever:
 • We install an additional internal cooling fan
 • We apply a special, higher quality thermal paste to the processor
 • We re-work the heatsink & soldering joints
I still would be a bit leary about a refurb 360, but if one could get over that fear, it's a heck of a price. :)

And it looks like they have a 60 day warranty. (With the option to extend)

GameStop sells refurbed consoles (with wireless controller) for $180 and refurbed 20GB HDD for $60 (complete joke). So, this is actually a pretty good deal, but I'd still be more than a bit concerned about buying a used 360. Anyone have any additional information about this iRepair Squad? Sounds like they did a decent job of trying to alleviate the many issues with the 360s design.
isnt it better the gamestop for 199 with two games of 29.99 or less
So gamestop has a 20GB 360 with two $29.99 for $199.99? If so I am sold! $50 more = $60 in games and a place to go if it breaks (as apposed to the $149 deal where it appears it is a when it breaks). Even if the games are not in the $199 price, I might bite...

Those reviews that all state the same thing, the company denying every warranty, loosing hard drives and saying there are not any 'laying' around the shop scares the hell out of me.

As much as I hate the Gamestop buy a $60 game for $30 and resale it for $54 gameplan, I do have some trust in them. This company doing the refurbs on TigerDirect/CompUSA units, I have no trust in them at all.

I just got an email from CompUSA, if after the 'manufacturer' (or in this case refurb) policy runs out then their extended warranty provider will attempt to repair it. If they can not repair it you have the option of keeping it or having them give you back your money. Taxes and Shipping will not be refunded.

Far too risky based on the ratings and rants on the refurb company.
