Just thought I would give everyone a heads up that Best Buy has the Yamaha YSP-800 for $159.99 on clearance. The regular price on this is 799.99. Mine had 2 in stock but it is definetly YMMV. It gives out amazing sound quality for how small it is. The SKU number is 7486053.

UPDATED: Just got mine hooked up and its awesome. It works perfect in my apt. I got mine open box w/o the remote or the optimizer mic but I use my harmony and work perfect with the unit and I had an optimizer from my old receiver.

damn a lot of store around me claim to have it time to get one for every tv...if any needs one pm me and i see if there is any extras great system.. thanx op and for thanx for the review i always like to look at that
 
There is one at my local BB, but it's open box and they don't have the remote. The salesman said I could probably order it online at their site, but I don't see it. So I googled around for it, and there's one for $33 and another for $90.

So that option is out.

I'm going to call the next closest BB and see what they say.

I don't guess any CAGs are willing to pick up extras to ship to other CAGs at cost + shipping + some extra?
 
Anyone own one of these? Im curious on what the results of one of these sound bars are. You cant really test it in a store setting.
 
I just bought one, and it was 239.99

I would love to view a scanned receipt so I could print it and try to debate it...

By the way, it works amazingly good. I was really impressed. I didnt hear the behind the head too much, but the left and right ear sounds sounded right. Very cool device.
 
YSP-800? Damnit. I just got back from my Best Buy... I asked the worker, he said that they cleared out the old model a long time ago and just got in the YSP-800, pointed to two of them on the shelf, and said they haven't even had a chance to put them on display yet. He offered to check the price, but I said nah, assuming it'd be $800+ for this "new" model.

He said they came out with a YSP-500, then YSP-700, now this new YSP-800...

After my stuffed chicken is done cooking (45 minutes more) I'm going to go back and check the price. Even at $239, I'll bite. At $159 I'll skip all the way home.

got the same shpeil (sp?) from my best buy, but the new model is the ysp-900

I saw on the box the model in my store was definitely YSP-800. Did you buy one, and if so, what was the price?
 
After 20 minutes of calling without talking to anybody from the Best Buy store I'm trying to call, I'm about to punch something.

Got Hung up on twice on the way there... I was actually going to stand in the store calling and watch someone hang up on me so I could rip them a new ass. But that didnt work as they didnt hang up or answer again.

Mine had a few at 319 and the other best Buy had one open box at 159. I came to see what others found as I figured the two guys at the 319 price were lying but sounds like it wasnt a lie.

If I press the button to transfer to a Home Audio guy, it says "Transfer cannot be completed" and kicks me to the previous menu.

If I press the button to transfer to customer server, it rings 15+ times then someone picks up and hangs up. You can hear people talking in the background, so it's obvious they're picking up and hanging up, not some automated time-out thing.

If I don't press anything and go to rotary operator, it rings for several minutes, then I get bored and hang up.

If I call the 1-888-Best-Buy number, I get run around for a while, eventually transferred to Sales, who tells me the YSP-800 is discontinued, then when I explain that I KNOW my store has it and just want to know how much it sells for there, they connect me to my store's automated machine (the one from the first two paragraphs, that puts me on lines that people ignore/hang up on).

I was in there an hour ago. I know they have multiple units of this item, and I know they aren't busy at all (probably more staff than customers)... I've worked in retail, I'm not being unreasonable, just fuck Best Buy.

check the main store had 3 in the morning but when i went had only 1 open box left for 159 but missing remote and book... call the other one and had 4... went up there and there was only 1 left after i bought mine...call the other bestbuy and they still had 2 so check them...
 
Called around. Found another, but it's open box and missing remote as well.

If it's in really good condition, then I guess an open box + remote wouldn't bother me all that much. If it had scratches and looked beaten up, I'd pass.

Sealed always good though.

Buying it separately would basically be the same as someone finding a complete, good condition one and shipping it to me.

I'm patient enough to see all venues out.

And if none of them end up working, then eh. Another deal will come along.

Good story for you all.. haha.. Went to one of the local best buy's. I live around two of them.. Anyways, went in there and they had a sealed model YSP and a demo model. So I asked the sales rep how much for the demo. He didn't know and said the sealed model was $239.00. Could tell that by the little sticker on it.. HA.. So told him find out much for the demo and how much for both. He comes back and says his manager is losing money on the deal and that the price would stay at $239.00 each. I laughed and said the open box / demo one doesn't even come with anything. He said he knows and that his manager insisted that they would be the same price. I was pissed and told him that is some shitty sales ideologies coming from his so called manager. So instead of getting his manager to tell him he is worthless, I went to the other BB about 20mins away. Walked into the second one and got a demo without remote for $159.00. It has some minor scratches on the bottom, but other than that, it is mint.. Cannot beat that deal... I guess a bunch of people called today asking about it etc.. I guess there is another clearance item that has to do with speaker shelves that are glass..? They were $121.00 but, now $21.00, of course didn't have any in stock...

So, have fun with BB trying to screw you over with pricing.. The search continues for a sealed box one..!
 
Tried to pick one up yesterday, and it was an open box item with everytying in it. I called them, asked them how much it was and they told it was $159, so i told them to hold it and that my friend would stop by to pick it up for me later. They said ok, so when my friend got there and asked for it, they rang it up and it rang up for $159, and the guy said that doesn't look right so he called the manager over. The manager said that the price is a glitch and that he can't sell it to him for that price, even though it rings up for $159. Ok whatever, they're probably gonna keep it for themselves. Useless bestbuy.

Anyways determined to get one, i call another one, one town over. They said they had one in stock, so i drove over there before work this morning and got myself a brand new one in box, paid $173 after tax. The guy was like "WTH?!" when he rung it up, before he could get the manager or anything i hurried up, paid, and got out of there. Anyways thanks OP for a killer deal! Can't wait to go home and check it out.
 
I went back to my Best Buy today... made sure the two boxed units were still there, found an employee, asked if anybody could price check in home audio for me... he walks over to a guy in home theatre and asks if he knows the price of the YSP-800, he says no, types some stuff in his computer and says $899.

Anyone know how accurate this is? Should I ask them to scan the box or something? I mean -- is it possible that his computer would tell him $899 even if it was on clearance? I really want one for $159...
 
Yes.. the YSP is really $159.99. They don't want to sell it to you for the $159.99. But, you can always buy the unit at the supposed retail price and before thirty days is up get a price comparison etc.. Basically, the clearance item is going to be clearanced down to $159.99 eventually, but for the time being the managers are trying to get you on the full price. Makes their sales go up etc..

But, I went tonight and found 2 other deals the BB employees are not aware of...

They had an open box one at the store in Pineville, NC, but it was heavily scratched/dented and had no remote...I ended up getting a new LG 2.1 system for $285 (the 790 model, piano black finish)...Thanks OP for this!

BTW, if anyone is interested in this system I got it is $330+ when they ring it up, but online it is $285 so have them PM it.
 
If anyone gets an extra or knows of a store with one, please pick it up. I will gladly pay all postage and paypal fees plus throw in some cash for a CAG. as long as it works and comes with the remote, I do not care if it is open box or a demo unit. Do not mint if it is a bit scratched up. This would be perfect for a smaller room for gaming.

Was able to grab the only one around here and I ended up only paying $140 with tax since it was open box. Pretty amazing! And thanks OP for letting me know about this.
 
ok..on a whim (sp?) i went to the brand new best buy in north las vegas right off the 215 and they had 3!!!! I snagged one and used a $5 gift card and walked out for $167 even. The guy that looked it up for me couldnt believe how cheap it was....so..there are 2 more left there as of right now...there are no demo units out or any tags or anything...they are hiding in the back

Anyone know where I can get the mic to calibrate this? Mine was open box and was missing the mic...are there any other parts I need that I don't know about besides the remote?
