My local Walmart (Harrisburg/Hershey, PA) had several games marked for $5.

Here's what I can remember:

Geist (GCN) - sold out
Dora the Explorer (don't know subtitle - GCN) - sold out

A bunch of Xbox sports games, including a good bit from 2005, such as the Nascar title, NBA Live, NCCA Football, etc. These all had quite a few copies left.

There was also a Gungriffon: Allied something or other (Xbox) that was also sold out.

Friends: The One With the Trivia (or something like that), and Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire for the Playstation 2 had a ton of copies left as well.

The above were all $5.

There were several GBA games on clearance as well, but weren't $5:

The notables:

Drill Dozer - $10 (man, this game most have sold terribly or something.. it's like in every clearance now) - plenty left
Mario Tennis - $15 - plenty left

Geist had a TS:FP-style price relationship, in that it spent ages at $50 and then clearanced out. Of course, it only hit the clearances AFTER I got it for $20.

Great game, though. Lots of unused potential, though, but good fun as a Cube FPS. Looks like a friggen N64 game though, and it doesn't revolutionize much of anything, as much of it sticks with quaint FPS trappings, but still a blast to play.

I think...every Wal-Mart I've ever been to would rather keep their games for the end of time instead of clearancing them. I believe most of the ones I've been too still had PSX games, regular price too. >_<

Sorry to threadcrap, but I hate Wal-Mart. :D

Yes, buy Drill Dozer as soon as you can and play it on your DS. If you don't have one of those, grow some nuts and get one already!

PSX Games? That's nothing, Wal-Mart here still has 5 copies of Sega Bass Fishing for Dreamcast and 2 copies of Power Puff Girls for N64 all for full price.

Don't have a DS. Last handheld I bought was a 20 dollar used Gameboy color as GS 5 years ago. Considering a plain old GBA at GS is 30, I might have to get one soon

Don't. With no backlight it just isn't worth it. Might as well request someone sell you a GBA SP or Micro from the trade forum.

Where in the hell do you live:rofl: This sounds like the Wal-Mart in Addebury, IN

I need to find a Wal-Mart that actually clearances out games. I always ask about YMMV deals and get stuff scanned, but never have any luck. Last time I asked about Guitar Hero, which still rings up full price here, I got a big speech from the kid working in the video game department about how this particular Wal-Mart would never be stupid enough to clearance out a game like Guitar Hero, which sells fine at full price. He kept yakking on and on until I pretty much rolled my eyes and left.

Considering that this Wal-Mart had probably 20 copies of Guitar Hero in stock...I expect they will still have a few copies when Guitar Hero 2 comes out this fall, so maybe they'll put it on sale then to make room in the case.

I'd pickup Geist.

I picked up Drill Dozer for $5 w/ that ToysRUs coupon awhile back. It's a nice little game and all, but my HUGE complaint is that Namco doesn't allow them to do multiboot game sharing w/ their games. (This one and Dig Dug DS) The games are so stinking tiny, but you have to have multiple carts to play multiplayer. If they can ship Maro Kart or Metroid Hunters via single cart, they can do this one too.

Seriously, don't. I traded in my old GBA years ago since you can't see ANYTHING on it. The SP is great. I still use mine, even though I have a DS Lite.

BTW, has anybody confirmed the prices in this thread? I'm not running anywhere until I see some confirmation. (Geist at least.)

Still, there's a Walmart on the way home from work. I'll check it out and let you know how it turns out.

lol! Nice! Now that you mention it, one Wal-Mart I went to recently had several copies Super Mario 64 and I believe Goldeneye in the display case for $50 I think, maybe $40.

Anyway, sounds like an IN Wal-Mart, since I live there and everything; I know firsthand the crappiness that is Wal-Mart.

Until Last year, my old Wal-Mart in my old hometown of Yakima, Washington actually had two SNES games (some sort of Gretsky Hocky) still marked for 50.00.

Yeah...dealing with Wally World as far as games go is always interesting...

Unlike most retailers (Target, BB, CC) which seem to control things at a "corporate level" (so, generally a game on clearance in Idaho will also be on clearance in Ohio), I think Wally World relies more on the department managers to make the call...so if your store has a clueless department manager, then stuff may never get marked down (yes...I have a wal-mart near me that still has a couple of Dreamcast games). This is why a Walmart clearance thread here is pretty pointless.

Which is why in a lot of Walmarts you walk into they have a giant section of games in a pile with strange pricing on them, many of which are ancient. I always thought that Walmart bungles their video game business...instead of going through periodically, taking their lumps on certain titles and clearancing them out so they could have shelf space for new and more relevant titles (that they actually have a chance at selling for full price...like Target does), they keep shelves cluttered with old crap, much of which is not "priced with the market". Being a 7/24 operation, you would also think they would leverage this and tell their electronics manager "on the day a game or system releases, make sure you get it out to the shelves at 12:01"...pretty soon the fanboys would figure this out and be showing up there to buy their copies rather than having to wait unitl the next morning when BB or EB opens.

Still..sometimes this stupidity works in a CAG's favor...like when a clueless dept manager clears out something like guitar hero....

To clarify, what you're talkinga bout here is Mr. Driller, not Drill Dozer. Mr. Driller is a DS game by Namco, while Drill Dozer is a Nintendo-published GBA game.

Walmart really isn't worth going to for clearance games unless it's not out of your way. Somebody needs to come up with a formula ---- Chances you find something divided by Gallons of Gas Used times price of gas per gallon or something.

I have a rough estimate here: 21 miles per gallon gasoline, $3 per gallon, that's $1 per 7 miles. So add $1 or $2 on top of your games if you're far away.

My old hometown is way out in the sticks. 14 miles away from there is another town that has an old-school, small Wal-Mart without a grocery section. It's been there since the dawn of time, and I think the managers are all vampires, because they have to have been there since the beginning. I went home two weeks ago to visit some family, and hit up that little Wal-Mart to stretch my legs and get a soda. I checked out the games, and they still have NES and Genesis titles. One of the Chester Cheetah games for Genesis was finally marked down to about $10, and they had sealed copies of one of the NES Bart Simpson games as well as the first TMNT game and some old-ass accessories still in the glass case. I had the NES games scanned, and they still rang up at $30+. Jeeeeez.

It's literally like the Store That Time Forgot.

*Smacks forehead* That's like the billionth time I've done that. Yes! If you find "Drill Dozer" for the GBA, BUY IT!

Wal~Mart markdowns will be controlled at the corporate level by the end of the year.

The way they used to work was at the store level. Each store was given X amount of markdown $ at the district to store level. You had to ask the District Manager for more if it was needed. Then the store Manager would give X amount to each department if needed. It usually went to depts. like domestics and seasonal toy/plastics/clothes. Those depts. change most of their stock every few months and really have to make room for the new stuff. The other thing about those depts. is that even if you 50% off some of that crap you still make money. Most definately not the same with games. Very slim profit margin with games so not much markdowns going on there.

We are in the middle of a company wide re-structuring and part of that change is changing the way markdowns are given. We still have some control at the store level, but not much. I cant wait to see how this all pans out in the end.

Plus, the Japanese and European versions of Mr. Driller DS actually DO support download play. The US version was released unfinished like 2 weeks before the Japanese game, for no good reason at all. If you really like Mr. Driller, seek the import and dump the US version.

I agree that Walmart is horrible. There is one that opened up less than 6 months ago and they have the PS2 network adaptor on clearance for 25 bucks. Rediculous
