Anyways, anyone watch this show? What are your views on it? Do you believe it is right what they are doing and is it helping anyone?

I think its kind of stupid. I mean, you are tempting men with something every guy wants, and then busting them when they get caught. Yea, its wrong to do it to a minor but still, come on.

Its like in the wild if a Female Peacock displays its tail feathers and a male comes over to mate, and fu-ckin Chris comes out asking you to take a seat. Its like, "Hey Chris. Its just in my blood..."

Well, I'd argue that it's unjustifiable to attempt to engage in sexual intercourse with a minor when you yourself are well over the age of 18. Worse still is the fact that many of the girls these men are attempting to hook up with are well under the age of 18--13 or 14 in many cases, even. Regardless, I'm undecided on my feelings about this show.

In a way, I'm glad it's around because it not only catches these criminals, but makes an example of them to potentially serve as a deterrent (though I kind of doubt its effectiveness, unfortunately). At the same time, though, I'd say that the methods used on the show border on entrapment. Granted, these guys were likely looking for a young girl to bed anyway, but even so...

Yeah, I'm undecided and my post is pretty much pointless.
 
I hate that show. I am all for arresting people who prey on kids but this show isn't about that. This show is about catching the people and completely destroying them on national television. I wouldn't mind this show if they caught them and then just arrested them but that part inbetween where they question them and all that is just unnessacry.
 
I'm glad they are catching a few predators as long as everyone realizes that this is about ratings and money, not protecting children. People get off on this stuff. Whether it's Law and Order SVU, the cheerleader chick from Heroes, or Katie Couric using "did he rape you?" as a tease for her interview with Elizabeth Smart, it's all about getting people to watch and making more money.

Two underage kids having sex is still considered statutory rape. So yes, if the parents press charges, there could be trouble.

One one hand I think the show is borderline entrapment, but I bet it has scared scores of guys away from chasing underage girls online because they are afraid of getting busted.
 
i dont like it, its just a ratings ploy. i really think its not any kind of detourant for a real predator. these are guys that are seeking out teenage (ie post pubescent) girls for casual sex. there are some true sick fucks out there who prey on little kids, i mean were talking little, those are the true bastards that need to be caught and arrested. not the guys going after a hot blond inviting them over, cmon!
 
I don't think the show prevents predators from looking for sex with teens online. There's usually someone that says they've seen the show before when they get caught.

I enjoy the show. I think they use to lure people in but now days they just go into a chat room and see who starts trying to strike up 'strange' conversations. I'm sure that a lot of the conversations struck up that just end up being nothing, but sometimes they get the occasional pedo which then ends up being good TV when they decide to do their thing.

It was a story not to long ago it seems to have been swept under the rug.

Like someone else mentioned depends on the state, in a solid number of cases and places it wouldn't be, not to mention the charges would almost never be taken up by a prosectutor. Regardless of that fact, the 17 yr old can't be arrested for statutory rape simply by going to someone's house as no sex act took place (as it was obviously a sting operation and part of the show).
